iePolitics: Blog hits
If we continue at the pace we are at for the next little while, we will exceed 70,000 blogs hits today. That’s far from a record but it is in the top 10.
When we have days like today I like to look at what people are reading. The highest ranking article is the Public Defender timeline. After that two of the Neil Derry pieces and two of the Sheriff’s Department pieces. Next is the story on environmental wackos. Rounding out the top ten is the Mitzelfelt piece, the Ruthie piece, and another Derry and SD piece.

iePolitics: San Bernardino County’s New Blog
Attention San Bernardino County Webmaster: You guys suck! Ya know, I know how to maneuver around the county’s website and I get frustrated and confused. I can only imagine how the average citizen feels trying to find information they are looking for online.
Case in point: A few weeks ago there was an article about a new group formed called the Inland Empire Destination Council. This council’s purpose is to promote San Bernardino County for something besides corruption. They started their own website and blog, which I find very humorous because iePolitics and InlandPolitics will always receive more hits and have a higher SEO ranking than anything positive the county puts out. But I digress.

iePolitics: Anonymous information
Just to let the senders know, today I received two packages regarding the Public Defender’s office and one regarding Solid Waste Management. I will get the information scanned in and posted in the next couple of days. Items can be sent to me at Post Office Box 2722, Apple Valley, California 92307.

iePolitics: Changes in the blog
Change is in the air again for iePolitics. I have the opportunity to write for several national on-line news sources. I am not going to go into detail yet because I still have to pass the background check with one and firm up the details with the others. They are freelance positions and I will maintain the property rights to my work.
What this means for all of you is that my work will be cross-posted here. There are several reasons for that.

iePolitics: To the blogpen
Before some of you are done reading this, I am sure there will be those who will want to see a scarlet “B” permanently tattooed on my forehead. There are plenty of other blogs to read so have at it. Or better yet, start your own.
I should have taken the time to write this a couple of days ago, but haven’t been feeling well and let the blog slide a bit. I first attempted to do this nicely by sending private emails, but those emails were ignored. Now I am notifying the entire blog pen publicly.

iePolitics: A Milestone
The post below represents iePolitics’ 1000th post since we changed formats with the decision to use mostly original material earlier this year. You have participated by making 4830 comments on those posts.
I’m a big believer that all things happen for a reason. When Jim and I split off into two separate blogs, many wondered if the local readership could and would support both. But instead of dividing readership, we have increased it exponentially. We both receive more hits than some local newspapers.

iePolitics: Tips
I received a call today from an anonymous type wanting to know where they could send me some “interesting” documents about the Public Defender. I realized I haven’t done this in a while. Documents can be sent to me at P.O. Box 2722, Apple Valley, CA 92307.

iePolitics: Looking for Writers
The blog has reached readership levels I never dreamed possible yet there are so many areas in the political world we barely touch. Even though I have strong feelings about certain subjects, I have no interest in writing about them. Two that come to mind are immigration and budget.
iePolitics has reached a point where it is time to expand again and attract new readers. YOU would be a welcome addition to our blogpen, especially if you like to encourage debate on controversial issues. You don’t received anything in return except the satisfaction of knowing thousands are reading your writings and maybe provoked to think a little extra hard. Read more…

iePolitics: For Those Who Are New To The Blog
I’ve noticed a recurring theme in recent weeks, especially in reference to Kenny and his history with the Sheriff’s Department. Some of you have attacked me and my history with the county as well.
For those of you who are not aware, the blog, in its various forms, is about to celebrate four years of existence. What is here now only accounts for the past five months.
I can’t remember exactly when Ken first contacted me, but it was quite some time ago, 2008 I believe, but maybe earlier. When Ken first starting writing he wrote about his own situation. When some of you think you are outing him over the K-9 situation or his shooting or the last chance agreement or anything else you have tried to embarrass him with, little do you know but our old timers know all about it. iePolitics: To “Guest” and All the Other Trolls
I started receiving complaints via email a few days ago regarding a blogger who calls themselves “Guest.” Obvious to those of us who have been doing this for a while, “Guest” is a troll and a high-ranking county employee (or former). “Guest” has been using a proxy but their writing style and obsession with the blog is familiar to many of us. Well, last night “Guest” decided to get particularly rude, and in their hurry to insult all of us, they forgot to use the proxy. Their home IP address showed up. It was easily traceable as has been pointed out to them in the past. Read more…

iePolitics: Yet Another Thank You . . . To the Powers That Be in San Bernardino County
Jim and I were discussing the fact that blog hits are remaining steady at an all-time high and have done so for a number of weeks now. But they have shifted too. Ever since the county started blocking the blogs for line staff computers, our biggest blog hit hours have changed. It starts around 5 a.m. and stays high until 7 a.m. Starting around 7 a.m. the Fifth Floor and department heads start looking at the blogs. HR starts copying entries anywhere from 7:30 to 9:30 and again later in the afternoon. The hits pick up again mid day but get really high around 6 p.m. and go to 10 p.m. Read more…

iePolitics: New Blogs
One of my attorneys sent me these links:
Mish’s Global Economic Trend Analysis: http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/
and
Of Two Minds: http://www.oftwominds.com/blog.html
Then I just received this link:
Full Disclosure: http://www.fulldisclosure.net/
There is some interesting stuff here. The “Full Disclosure” blog has articles about Los Angeles County that relate to this county, such as judicial benefits.

iePolitics: Blog Update Again
Another “thank you” to all of those that are helping to keep the blog going. As ACU indicated, I have a plan and several backup plans in the works. Right now, we’re limping along but we’re still alive.
After looking at all the options, it seems keeping my Blackberry going is the least expensive way to keep the blog going so that is where the donations have gone. It will be a few more days and then I hope to have the blog off of moderate. Read more…

iePolitics: Blog Issue, News Flash for Lamberto
For those who have offered Sharon help time and time again on a given number of issues, I thank you sincerely.
I have offered $100 bucks towards the total cost of getting her internet access 24/7 up and running so our comments come onto the blog immediatley, instead of around 10:00am everyday or whenever Sharon has access to her site.
I’ll even drive a technician out to her house at Fort Apache if that is what it takes to get her up and running, all she has to do is tell me when and where. Sharon says she has something in the works, if not let us know Sharon. Read more…

iePolitics: Blog Support
We need to band together as supporters of Sharon and her cause and find a way to donate to her on a monthly basis until she is back on her feet financially. Please message me on facebook
(www.facebook.com/ARealFriendWillLendAHelpingHand)
or email me (friendsofsharongilbert@gmail.com) and let me know what you can commit to sending on a monthly basis. If not on a monthly basis, then please consider at least a one-time donation to help her with the basics for living (i.e. food and shelter).
Sharon has activated a Paypal account, so now you can donate directly to her. Log in to Paypal and go to the tab “Send Money” then click on the tab “Personal” and check the radio button for “Gift” enter Sharon’s email address: sharon@iepolitics.com and the amount you are able to donate …- then send!
Thank you SO much for your support!

iePolitics: More Blog Stuff
I’m trying to keep the blog going. It will be up for at least a few more days while I try to work out some details. It has been impossible to write the articles I want to write without a phone to make calls to verify information. So I’ve put the articles on the Sheriff’s Department, Lake Havasu, San Manuel, and ARMC on hold for the most part. But I really want to get them posted.
Hits are still very high and I appreciate all of the support. We’re trying . . . but no promises.

iePolitics: The Blog
From all the emails, Facebook contacts and comments I have received I thought I had better explain the situation a little more.
First off, the blog costs $14.99 a month for hosting, which under normal circumstances is very reasonable. However, with zero income it is impossible. But that is not my real concern here. Actually, one of the bloggers has the ability to host it and has offered to host it for free. Read more…

iePolitics: The Blog
It has become impossible for me to maintain this blog having only 1.5 hours at the Library six days a week. Most of the time I need that internet time for other things I need to accomplish.
I have decided to take down iePolitics.com for now. This will not be permanent but will be until my life straightens out a bit. It will remain up with new postings as my blogpen sees fit until March 31. After that, it may go as long as April 23 when GoDaddy will shut it down for non-payment or I may shut it down earlier.

iePolitics: Attention Candidates
Due to my lack of internet access, I will no longer be adding your press releases and other information to the blog. If you want it on the blog and you do not already have a log-in, please email me at sharon@iepolitics.com and I will set up an account for you. Thank you for your understanding.
Again, I also recommend that you sign up for a Gravatar at http://en.gravatar.com/ It takes less than five minutes and makes your posts look more professional.

iePolitics: Blog Comments
FYI, the blog is on partial moderate. When you post a comment, you can view it but not necessarily everyone else can. It depends on whether the spam mechanism has flagged the comment. Please don’t assume that because you haven’t received a response from a candidate, he or she is ignoring you. Also, please don’t assume they have not responded. If they have included a link in their response, it is also held for moderation and you will not be able to read it until I moderate it.

iePolitics: Update
My phone should be turned back on today and I’m headed home to try to put things back together. I won’t have internet access. For the record, I gave a friend my sleeping pills and painkillers to hang on to until I’m sure I’m through this. Thank you everyone for your support.

iePolitics: The Blog and Suicide
Before my oldtimers think to themselves, “Here we go again,” I am NOT suicidal. I am extremely depressed but not suicidal.
I am not sure the blog will continue. What you see here may or may not be the end of the blog. My former landlord stole almost all of my computer equipment and the Sheriff’s Office won’t do a thing about it. I will not be able to get to a hotspot to use my laptop so I don’t expect for there to be anything new on the blog for a while after this post.

iePolitics and inlandpolitics: Different Reasons For What We Do
Jim made me laugh this morning and doesn’t even know it. I’ve come to the conclusion that having separate blogs is a good thing. Our overall mission is the same, and we share most of the same targets. But we both have our “special” people or organizations that need our “special” attention.
For me, for example, my newest target is San Manuel. Those who have known me for years know I have a special place in my heart for Native Americans. It goes back to when I was 8 years old and my family moved to Tucson from Eagle Rock. Even at that age I realized the disparate treatment of Native Americans. Tucson at the time was almost in a depression and the poverty on the reservations rivaled any third-world country. Anyway, I’ve spent my share of time on reservations since and love the culture. If I had my choice right now I would be living near the Navajo Reservation in Arizona or the Zuni Reservation in New Mexico.

iePolitics: If the blog goes down . . .
In the next few days, it’s not a meltdown on my part. Well I may end up having one, but it won’t result in the blog going down. Actually, once again Hartford is causing me all kinds of grief. One of these days I will see another check but who knows when. Read more…

iePolitics: A Note About Comments
As I stated in a previous post, the blog is no longer moderated. However, if you post a comment with certain words or one or more links, it will be set for moderation. Right now I’m lucky to moderate the blog once a day so be patient.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. A very snotty SCE employee called me today from a message I left over two weeks ago to inform me that after nine weeks of trying, I just might have power by the end of the week. She got a little indignant when I asked for an exact date so that I can have the dogs put away and leave the fence unlocked.

iePolitics: Survey
Thank you everyone for your continued support. We’re on-line for about 30,000 hits today so I appreciate all who have stuck it out with me. I’d like a little feedback since I’ve started the blog over from scratch.
Do you want the polls brought back? They were certainly less-than-scientific but they were fun and not much work.
Do you want the newspaper articles back? At this point Jim and I are doing two completely different blogs and I suspect most readers are reading both. The articles are a lot of work, but I’ll do them by popular demand or is Jim’s inclusion enough? Read more…

iePolitics: Thank You
I’ve started it off slowly, but tomorrow I plan to really get back into blogging. I want to thank everyone again for all the email. One thing I know about our regular readers is that you are a loyal lot. We are already back up to 20,000 hits a day with virtually no content, it being a weekend, and a majority of folks not even knowing the blog is back.
If someone tells you they cannot access the blog, it is likely because they are using an old bookmark. We are using a new host and a new domain so bookmarks have to be updated.
Thanks again for your support.

iePolitics: The Truth
There is one especially nice thing about Jim and I having separate blogs and that is I can write about anything I want to write about without grief from Postmus, Stout, Erwin, Derry or Burum for writing about the “personal” stuff. This is one of those “personal” posts that makes those guys cringe but I don’t have to worry about it because they will never see it as they are busy with their own blog. I’ve been inundated with questions so I’m going to take a few minutes to explain all that has happened to bring about two separate blogs.
Back in October after I was laid off from work I had a bit of a meltdown. Under normal circumstances I would have taken the action with stride but 2009 was anything but a normal year for me. For the first time in a couple of decades, not having a county paycheck to rely upon was financially devastating for me. I have always had multiple sources of income including my businesses, savings earnings, rental income and second/third jobs. But 2009 was the year of financial hell and the layoff caught me off guard and unprepared. On top of that, not only did they lay me off, they also messed with my final paycheck, shorting me a lot of money. Thus the meltdown. Read more…

iePolitics: Contacts
When I took down the blog and Facebook, I also managed to delete my entire email list and most of my phone list. For those of you who don’t mind taking pity on me one more time, I’d appreciate it if you would email me at Sharon@iePolitics.com with your contact information. It will make getting this blog back up and running quite a bit easier.
Also, now that Facebook has changed, it is much more difficult to find my friends on there. Poor me needs more than four friends on Facebook!
