The naysayers better not even suggest that it won’t happen. We already have one sheriff who has been on probation for taking guns that were not his for his private collection. I hear some of the guns turned in today as part of the buy back program were very nice and worth some money. Some were collectors items. Does anyone really believe those will become rebar? Well I guess there are those who will brown nose no matter what. It is also interesting that Stater Bros. was the choice for gift cards. That would have anything to do with Jack Brown being a big sheriff’s campaign contributor, would it? Of course not. There would never be payola or payback in San Bernardino County. Tell me again why he has a CCW?
by AdministratorPaul Schrader announced his candidacy for San Bernardino County Sheriff in February of this year. It will be his second attempt to become the county’s top cop. Schrader, who was a complete unknown at the time, ran for the office in 2010 and garnered 38,551 or 21.51 percent of the vote. His “constitutional sheriff” approach resonated with voters, especially Tea Party activists. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorIf a judge who hears nothing but a criminal calendar has to recess court because he is a member of the Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue and must leave for a search, is that a problem? I am referring to the fact that he is a Superior Court judge sitting on a criminal calendar and working with the Sheriff’s Department.
by AdministratorI have had to remain mostly silent on the latest story posted by ACU, mainly due to lack of internet access. That hasn’t stopped my phone from ringing non-stop about the incident. After hearing numerous accounts of the incident, I am convinced that the deputy chief and his wife were not directly involved. That doesn’t mean there isn’t something hinky about it. I think there is. I also think most of the details are correct, i.e., damage to the vehicle(s), etc., but I think the Deputy Chief and his wife deserve a pass on this one. As with every story, eventually the total truth will come out.
by AdministratorAdministrator’s Note: How much ya wanna bet a positive story won’t get a single comment? On Friday San Bernardino County Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt announced he allocated $100,000 of his discretionary funds to Operation Desert Heat again this year. Desert Heat has been a successful effort initiated by law enforcement during the summer months to conduct sweeps and saturation patrols throughout the Victor Valley to suppress gang activity. Mitzelfelt joined San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos and Sheriff Rod Hoops at a press conference in Hesperia, California to make the announcement. In a press release issued by his office, Mitzelfelt noted, “There are approximately 2,000 identified gang members in the Victor Valley and more than 17,000 countywide as members of 750 gangs. In addition, burglaries and vehicle thefts have increased significantly in the past year. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorOk Lauren it’s time to do an overview of SEBA, put a few things into perspective. Some of this may have been before your time. Some of your peers are upset by the writings that appear on this blog, they have been for quite some time. But one must understand why all this happened. The negative commentary that has come out is supported by more than a few incidents that have yet to be explained away. More than a few members have now spoke up. It is no longer just ACU talking.
by AntiCorruptionUnitPaul Schrader officially announced his candidacy today to run for the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner position in 2014, a seat that is currently held by Rod Hoops. Schrader in 2010 ran against then appointed Hoops and Averbeck. In 2010, with only five months to elections Schrader was able to garner 40,000 votes to Hoops 120,000. This time around Schrader hopes by starting earlier he’ll be able to get his message out and win over San Bernardino County.
