Administrator’s Note: Even if you don’t read the story, check out the video. It is worth it. The press release is the subject of smirks and sarcasm, and rightfully so. What press release you ask? That would be the press release from 8th Congressional District candidate Phil Liberatore updating us on his “Farmer’s Legacy Tour.” You may remember that Liberatore is a carpetbagger from Whittier that will likely spend about $1 million in his attempt to buy the seat. Liberatore, not only does not live here, but is more uninformed about the area than anyone can imagine. His campaign has been full of gaffes as he tries to fake his knowledge of the area and its issues. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorIt is said that politics makes strange bedfellows. The race for California’s 8th Congressional District has certainly proved that to be true. Or better yet: The enemy of my enemy is my friend. There are 13 candidates in the race, 10 Republicans, two Democrats and one “no party” candidate. The three non-Republicans in the race─John Pinkerton, Anthony Adams and Jackie Conaway─have behaved themselves throughout the campaign. The same cannot be said for many of their 10 Republican counterparts or their supporters. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorThe 8th Congressional District encompasses parts of San Bernardino, Mono and Inyo counties but does not include any part of Los Angeles County. Some have criticized Phil Liberatore for being a carpetbagger. He lives in Los Angeles County but is a candidate for the 8th Congressional District. Liberatore’s reasoning is that after running in his home area and losing big, he could buy a seat elsewhere, where he thought the populace to be less educated and more gullible. He thinks by running on an anti-corruption platform, we will jump at the chance to vote for him. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorThe concept of “stolen valor” is being argued in the courts and there are strong emotions on both sides of the issue. At this point, lying about military honors has been ruled to be a First Amendment issue, but there is something oh-so-slimy about someone who claims he is a war hero when he is not. That “slimy” feeling is what I got when I saw Phil Liberatore’s “war hero” political mailer. No, he did not claim he is a hero, but the intent to send that subliminal message and that he saw active combat was clear from the design of the mailer. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorAdministrator’s Note: It is not too often that I make a special plea for all of you to share a story. I am making that plea on this story and the subsequent stories in this series. In San Bernardino County we have had more than our share of lying, crooked politicians. We don’t need to be importing them from Los Angeles County too. Please consider sharing this story on Facebook, Twitter or via email with anyone you know who lives in the 8th Congressional District. We don’t need to send another crook to Congress. It was less than two weeks ago that I sat across from Dana and Phil Liberatore in the conference room of their CPA office in La Mirada, California. Dana, complete with fake tears, told me that the two of them are “Christians,” and claimed to me to be ministers. She said she would never run a negative campaign, especially one based on lies and half-truths. I knew, of course, a con artist was lying to me and time would prove that. I was right. I have lived in what is now the 8th Congressional District since 1974. Like several of the 13 candidates in the race, that is almost a lifetime. As a matter of fact, some of those same 13 candidates were born and raised in the district while the remaining candidates, except one, have lived in the district for more than a decade. by AdministratorPhil Liberatore, one of 13 candidates running for California’s new 8th Congressional District, is campaigning the old-fashioned way. He is going on a road trip with his wife, Dana, to meet voters throughout the expansive district. According to his press release, “When Congressional candidate Phil Liberatore fell in love with Dana Holland he got more than just a beautiful young bride, he also married into a family that had spent decades working the land. Dana, the daughter of a cotton farmer from Brownfield, TX, spent her early years ‘doing everything’ on the family farm─which included routine tasks like driving a tractor and weeding the cotton. Together with her two brothers and sister, they were a constant presence on their family farm.” To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorMany of the 13 candidates in California’s 8th Congressional District are spending some big dough on fancy mailers, radio and television spots, signs in every conceivable location and the ever-annoying robo calls during dinner. Political consultants say that is the way to win an election . . . spend, spend, spend. Well these highly paid consultants may very well be right. It is a tried-and-true formula that has been used for decades with great success. But there are a few of us who think those political mailers are perfect cat box liners and nothing more; political signs make an area look trashy; switch channels when political ads pop up; and hang up on robo calls. Politics in cyberspace, however, is new and not nearly as boring. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator(Victorville, CA) – Redistricting, retirements, term limits and an open primary have led to a free-for-all in some California races on the June 5, 2012 ballot. The race for the new Congressional District 8 (CA-8) is one of the wildest. Thirteen candidates will appear on the ballot that includes ten Republicans, two Democrats, and the races most well-known candidate, former Republican Assemblyman Anthony Adams. Adams, who did not run for re-election after a failed recall attempt for crossing the aisle to vote for the largest tax increase in California history, is now running as the “no party” candidate. But Adams is not the CA08 bad boy. That distinction belongs to city of Victorville Mayor Ryan McEachron, who crossed the line more than once even before the filing period for the seat was over. by AdministratorPhil Liberatore (Lake Arrowhead, CA) – The Phil Liberatore campaign announced today that Keith Olberg, who served in the California State Assembly from 1994 to 2000, has become a senior advisor to the congressional candidate. During the 1990s Olberg’s assembly district encompassed much of the same territory as the newly created congressional district. “The people of this district know me, and they know of my passion in defending the U.S. Constitution” Olberg said. “From the passage of the unconstitutional Obama Care, to the violation of Americans’ religious liberties, to a President who puts our military in harm’s way without the approval of the Congress of the United States, Phil Liberatore sees where America’s leadership has taken us off-course, and he is passionately committed to righting America’s Ship of State,” Olberg continued. by AdministratorThe new 8th Congressional District in California, created last year through the redistricting process, is the largest district in California and one of the most conservative. There are 13 candidates in the running including 10 Republicans, 2 Democrats and 1 “no party” candidate. Phil Liberatore is one of the Republican candidates. He is founder and president of two companies in Southern California, Philip L. Liberatore, CPA and IRS Problem Solvers, Inc. Liberatore works with clients on their accounting and tax issues. He says he has successfully helped thousands of clients across the country in resolving all types of IRS problems. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator(Victorville, CA) – Eleven candidates vying for the newly created Eighth Congressional District attended the Americans for America Tea Party debate held at the Victorville First Assembly of God Church Friday night. Americans for America is a Judeo-Christian-based Tea Party group. Less than 200 people attended the event despite heavy radio and newspaper advertising in the Victor Valley, which is home to close to a half million residents. Even Sharron Angle, best known nationally for her run as the 2010 Nevada Republican nominee for the United States Senate against Tea Party nemesis Senator Harry Reid and who moderated the event, did not draw a crowd. Thirteen candidates are in the race but Barstow resident, Jackie Conaway, who is endorsed by the Democrats, did not attend. Assemblyman Paul Cook was also absent due to a fundraiser that had been planned before the debate was scheduled. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator(Twentynine Palms, CA) – Phil Liberatore, who last week announced that he will again run for a seat in the United States Congress, in the state’s newly created 8th district, has received the endorsement of Colonel John Fer, USAF (ret). Fer is a former United States Air Force pilot and Vietnam War prisoner. “I am honored and blessed to have received the endorsement of Col. Fer, a true patriot and hero,” said Liberatore in a press release issued today. “America can never repay Col. Fer for the sacrifices that he made on behalf of his country during his 28 year Air Force career or especially during his six years of captivity in Vietnam. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator(Victorville, CA) – Businessman Phil Liberatore formally announced his candidacy today for the 8th Congressional District. The district is the largest in California and encompasses eastern San Bernardino County from the East Valley to the Arizona and Nevada state lines on up Highway 395 to include Mono and Inyo counties. Liberatore is the founder of two successful businesses. He is a certified public accountant and owns IRS Problem Solvers. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator(Victorville) – The unofficial total of candidates seeking election to the new 8th Congressional District is now at ten. Former assemblyman Anthony Adams and KABC 790 talk show host Phil Liberatore are the latest to join the race. Adams served two terms in the California State Assembly. He was one of six Republicans who crossed the isle to vote for the largest tax increase in state history and stated at the time, “I dare with the full knowledge that this will probably be the end of a political career for me, but the fact of the matter is California is in a place where they need people who are willing to sacrifice their own personal agenda for what’s right.” To read the rest of the story, click here.
