On the same day that voters will decide if the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors should become a part-time governing body, Nov. 6, the supervisors will vote to adopt a meeting calendar designating 25 meeting dates for calendar year 2013. They will not meet the remaining 28 Tuesdays of the year. In recent years county supervisors have made themselves less available to their constituents by reducing their meeting dates. Board of Supervisors meetings are the only forums where any citizen can voice their complaints or concerns. Citizens have up to three minutes to address calendar items and another three minutes for the topic of their choice. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorMeasure Q is meant to confuse voters. It is in response to Measure R, a grassroots voter-initiated measure that makes real budget cuts and reforms. There was no interest by county politicians to “reduce” their own salaries until Measure R threatened to do it for them. Now they are trying to mitigate the effects by giving up a little to save most of their $270,000 salary and benefit packages and government vehicles. More than 73,000 county voters signed the petition to place Measure R on the ballot. Now five county politicians hope to stop the outcome by placing a confusing, disingenuous measure on the ballot and calling it “transparency” and “reform.” Don’t be fooled. Also be advised “NONE OF THESE ENDORSEMENTS HAVE COME AT ANY FINACIAL GAIN TO THIS BLOG OR ANYONE DIRECTLY CONECTED TO THIS BLOG” We put out feelers to people running in local elections to obtain the information they feel you should know about them but we have nothing more to gain that passing along our advice and opinion to people on this monster election. We get our reward from having knowledgeable readers that are energized and ready to cast their ballots. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by AdministratorAdmin: For those who don’t know, Kieran Brennan is the original proponent of Measure R. Kieran Brennan Posted: 10/29/2012 06:34:47 PM PDT On Nov. 6 voters have a choice between two local initiatives to cap the pay of the members of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. Only one of those measures provides real reform that will save taxpayers millions of dollars. That initiative is Measure R. Measure R is the only local ballot measure that was initiated and supported by a grassroots coalition of average citizens: Democrats and Republicans; tea party patriots and employee union members; animal welfare volunteers and hunting enthusiasts; and community activists and citizens seeking elected office for the first time. It is also the only local measure that more than 73,000 county residents signed to qualify for the ballot. As the original proponent of the “Elected Officials Pay Reduction Act,” now known as Measure R, I can tell you we have put forth a proposal that scares entrenched and unethical elected officials. Measure R not only reduces the pay and benefit packages of board members from a high of $308,000 to $60,000 a year, it requires that the board meet at least twice a month and it reduces staffing across the districts from $6 million to $1.5 million a year. by AdministratorSan Bernardino County voters will have a chance on November 6 to do something about the corruption that has plagued the county for decades. From Jerry Eaves to Paul Biane, and even with many of our current county supervisors, that corruption has always involved the greedy, selfish pursuit of power and wealth. Across the board it has been about lining their pockets, not serving the public, and it is time to change that. Public service was never meant to be a pathway to wealth but in San Bernardino County it has become just that. County supervisors are greedy, voting themselves substantial benefits that raised their salary and benefit packages up to $308,000 a year and that is in addition to any bribes, kickbacks or other illegally obtained monies they have received. by AdministratorExaminer today started giving us our stats in comparison to other Examiners. They are based on page views. There are something like 85,000 Examiners. I was happy to learn that at the local level — Palm Springs — my animal welfare column and my government column are ranked No. 2 and No. 4 respectively. Bill has already made it to No. 5 for San Bernardino and Riverside.
by AdministratorWell the Orduno case did not go today. Why did it get continued? Because the arbitrator decided to go to the World Series instead. In the meantime, while he’s enjoying the game, the deputy is trying to figure out how to put food on his table. Remember, he was found not guilty in a court of law.
by AdministratorToday there have been 16 hits on Examiner articles. That equals .08. The blog will not survive on this.
by AdministratorI know it is hard to believe but our most honest and full of integrity county board of supervisors has done a few more deceitful things — even Pastor Gary. I will be writing about them shortly. In the meantime, most news will go on the official website www.ReformSBCounty.com, which I have been updating frequently. Check it out often—it helps the Google rankings and we want our website on top! Remember: Yes on Measure R!!! No on Measure Q!!
