Examiner.com: New Year’s resolutions for your dog

(Palm Springs) – You may have read any one of several lists making its way around the internet and social media sites detailing New Year’s resolutions for your dog, from the dog’s perspective that is. The lists include resolutions ranging from “I will not eat the cats’ food, before or after they eat it” or “I will not chew my human’s toothbrush and not tell him” to “Give up the dream of ever catching my tail.”  As humorous as they may be, we, as the pack leaders and super-Alphas, can make changes that will make both canine and human happier and healthier in the new year.   Here are a few to consider.

Crate Train Fido

Dogs are denning animals. They want a place where they feel safe and secure.  Crate training is not cruel, but rather, one of the most humane things you can do for your dog.  That is not to say your dog should spend more time inside of a crate than out, but for certain situations, a crate-trained dog makes for a happy and safe dog.
