(San Bernardino) – “California’s Most Corrupt County” is the inspiration for Assemblyman Paul Cook’s latest offering in the California State Assembly. San Bernardino County has been plagued by corruption scandals for two decades now, with four raids being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a little over a year.
“Grand jury investigations revealed several top aides to former county elected officials are alleged to have taken bribes and participated in other illegal activities. If convicted of these charges, the former elected officials will lose their pensions and be barred from public employment while the staff members accused of the same crimes will retain their pensions and eligibility to work in government,” according to a press release issued today by Cook’s office.
