    • iePolitics: A decision

I’ve been offered a chance to make a little money off of the “iepolitics” name and have decided to take it.  It is not much, but enough to make the change.  iePolitics.com and iePolitics.net will be going down in about a week.  The data bases are NOT being deleted but will not be available to anyone but me.  So, if there is something you cannot live without, print it out now.  The new blog, which goes by iePolitics but is actually politicsinthewildwest.com will become the main blog. This will clean up a lot and allow a fresh start.  Being hosted in a country that does not recognize US subpoenas and search warrants is also a good thing.  I have not set up an email account there yet but will after all of the old iePolitics business is taken care of.

    • iePolitics: The new blog

I’m still working on it.  I have a theme up and running but I am not sure how it will look on a computer that doesn’t have a 17-inch screen.  If anyone with a larger or small screen has a moment to take a screen print and send it to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Don’t expect content, because it will not be added until I get the aesthetics done.  The new blog is www.politicsinthewildwest.com/wordpress/

    • Examiner: Commentary: The latest blunder with RWF should surprise no one

It seems Republicans simply cannot keep their feet on the ground and out of their mouths.  The party has become known as the party of hate and for good reason.  The reason is not that most Republicans hate anyone, because I do not believe that to be the case. The problem stems from certain factions of the party faithful.  If one attends Tea Party, Republican Women, and other conservative functions, without fail there are two or three people spouting off hateful comments towards immigrants, gays, Muslims, blacks, Hispanics or whatever their choice of victim may be at that moment in time. • Examiner: Rino alert: Republicans endorse Democrat Walker for senate

There are two Republicans candidates for running for the Senate seat vacated by Gloria Negrete-McCloud when she won election to the House of Representatives. Those candidates are city of Ontario mayor Paul Leon and city of Pomona Planning Commission chairman Kenny Coble. Neither Republican received the endorsement of San Bernardino County Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Janice Rutherford, or San Bernardino County District Attorney, Mike Ramos. Both Rutherford and Ramos are Republicans with a history of endorsing Democrats. To read the rest of this story, click here.

    • Examiner: Sheriff’s candidate Paul Schrader to speak to High Desert East Oath Keepers

Schrader believes strongly in the Second Amendment and that concealed weapons permits should not be issued based on campaign contributions as has been the case for most of the county’s past sheriffs.  He says he will enforce state law based on the spirit of the law and not to increase his campaign war chest. • Examiner: Brulte lays out plan to reinvigorate California Republican Party

On Tuesday former California state senator and California Republican Party chairman candidate Jim Brulte presented his vision for the Republican Party at a luncheon hosted by the San Bernardino County Federation of Republican Women.   Brulte stressed that Republicans need to work together as a cohesive party, rather than resort to the infighting of recent years such as between the Tea Party and moderate Republicans. “It’s all too easy after a defeat to look around and blame a member of our own family.  . . . We all got beat.  We all have to work together to win.  And we can win.” To read the rest of the story, click here.

    • iePolitics: Sounds like a showdown in the east desert

We may have a showdown for the Assembly seat currently held by Brian Nestande–the Rino who represents the Morongo Valley and much of the Coachella Valley, Hemet, etc.  Chris Mann has declared his candidacy.  Here is a link to his firm: www.manncommunications.net. One of our county’s very own is also said to be running.  Although, I’ve confirmed it through three separate sources, I shall not mention the name.  I will only say that it is the one and the same as the person who assists Janice Rutherford in quashing public comment at BOS meetings as well as the rest of her dirty work.  He is just what we need in Sacramento–NOT!!

    • iePolitics: Just a rumor

Sorry cops, this isn’t a cop story.  I’m still pretty pissed off at all of you (ok, many of you) so there are not going to be any cop stories for a while . . . maybe never.  Anyway, back to the rumor.  The rumor is that Neil Derry is considering a run against Janice Rutherford.  That, of course, would mean a change of residences.  But, oh how funny would that be!  I have to admit I would love to see it.  If he played his cards right, I bet he could beat her.  Next year could be a fun year.

    • AnimalsVote: Those haunting eyes

Several days ago I attended a regional fair and festival. Like most such events, livestock was part of the event. As I was leaving I noticed four animals housed separately from the rest. There was a steer, a goat, a sheep and a pig. The banner above read “Grand Champion Market Animals.” I snapped a photo of each but the meaning did not register at the time. It was not until later when I was editing the photos for a story did I realize the significance. The photo above is the picture of the “winning” pig. I’m guessing as I write this he is sitting on someone’s plate as bacon or carnitas or loin roast. I can only hope each of these four animals met their fate from a butcher with mercy and not one that subscribes to the methods of our factory slaughterhouses. Look into this pig’s eyes. He knows the fate that awaits him. To read the rest of the story, click here.

    • Examiner: 10 signs the Second Amendment still reigns supreme in the high desert

Today is the national “Day of Resistance” and high desert residents made their feelings known about what that means.  At least 100 protesters waved flags and signs on the corner of Apple Valley Road and Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley between noon and 2 p.m.  Participants were greeted by very enthusiastic motorists who joined the protest with the honks of horns. What is the “Day of Resistance”? To read the rest of the story, click here.

    • iePolitics: An update

This has been a heck of a day.  Long before my hissy fit, I managed to drop my phone in a bucket of water.  I thought it might be okay as it still seemed to work for a few minutes.  But then it started randomly dialing numbers in my directory and I couldn’t stop it without taking the battery out.  It allowed me to read one text message and did tell me I have some voicemails.  However, I cannot listen to said voicemails.  I tried to get a new phone but they didn’t have anything I wanted.  Since I’m forced into it, I really want to get a smart phone.  We shall see when I try again tomorrow.  In the meantime, if you were dialed by my rebel phone and no one was on the other end, I’m sorry.

    • iePolitics: Cities look to form JPA for fire and law enforcement

Today’s Daily Press outlines the high desert cities’ plan to look at forming a JPA for fire and law enforcement services rather than contracting with the SB Sheriff’s Department and County Fire.  According to the story, one of the reasons is the Greg Devereaux wants to start charging for things the county doesn’t currently charge for such as helicopter usage. Sources tell iePolitics that that may be only half the story. The serious costs that Devereaux is said to want the cities to pay for is the cost of retirement contributions for those employees currently working in a contract city.  To me this doesn’t make sense as I would wonder why the cities are not already paying those costs.  But that is what we are being told.  Stayed tuned as we learn more and verify whether this is true or not.

    • How to maintain the status quo at shelters

Dave and Buzz For the past few days, the Southern California rescue community, along with compassionate people from around the country, has watched a potential tearjerker unfold. A man was arrested on outstanding traffic warrants and possible other charges. His dog was taken to the San Bernardino City Shelter in California’s ‘Inland Empire’ as a ‘stray.’ The police knew the dog had an owner but chose not to tell shelter staff. The dog was a pit bull mix (more shepherd than pit) and as a stray stood zero chance of getting out alive. With an owner, a hold would be required; without, the dog could be killed in 72 hours. A local photographer and animal advocate, Maria Sanchez, noticed a man, weeping at the dog’s cage. He asked about getting his dog back but all he had was $6. The cost for the impound was about $400. • iePolitics: The rave issue

I am not sure if everyone realizes the big deal the rave issue in this county really is.  Back in the days of Kathy Davis, they were commonplace in the First District.  People died as a result.  Now we have the county contracting for them at Glen Helen.  I realize it is not Lovingood’s, Rutherford’s, Gonzales’ or Ramos’ kids that will be going to these raves and using all sorts of drugs, etc., but really, they should care that anyone’s child is being put in harm’s way at a county-sponsored event on county property.  But they do not.  Should we expect more from them?  Why?  We would only be disappointed once again.  Besides, if families sue, we have the Legal Beagle on Ice to defend the taxpayers with his sage legal advice that has proven so effective in the past.
