iePolitics: Gun control: A cop’s view
It seems there have been a lot of cops calling into KFI with their views on gun control. I have to admit initially I was surprised by what they had to say.
Since a majority of our commentators are related to law enforcement in one way or another, I thought maybe some of you could quit the name calling for a bit and give us your opinion on gun control including CCWs, assault rifles, and since today’s attack took place with a shotgun, those too.

Now onto the topic.
Our beloved Diane Feinstein NUMBER 1 politician who advocates much of California’s and the Senates gun control measures, has a CCW or did have one.
I mean everyone loves Diane so why would she need a gun? NO I don’t want to hear about the CERTAIN type of firearm argument either.
I am sure she has a security detail attached to her and I bet anything they too are armed.
We can add many politicians to that list who have armed security to protect them.
Rosie O’Donnel what a PEACH she is, also reported to have ARMED bodyguards, but such an ADVOCATE of gun control.
Guess my point is if everything is peaches and cream out there in the real world why do some of these ANTI GUN folks need CCW’s or an armed security detail????
I guess if you practiced what you preached NO GUNS PERIOD, then no one could call BS on you like Fienstein and other gun control freeks.
And those who say, by god, you can call 911 and let the police handle the problem.
YEA RIGHT, it took that creep back in CT about 4 minutes to kill his victims. YOU bet 911 is the answer.
Of course we also know the ELITISTS are different than us common folk.

WHO cares what laws are enacted, what guns are banned, MOST people WILL NOT give up their guns. ALWAYS a few sheep though.
If the politicians cared about saving lifes they would OUTLAW alcohol too, ooops wait, too many boozer politicians to wrap their arms around that one.
These debates on gun control have been going on for decades, same story different day.
You can tell many of the other states who give their citizens a RIGHT to a CCW or like Alaska,Arizona, and a couple others who tell their citizens you can CARRY a CONCEALED weapon if over 18 and your not a convicted felon REALLY don’t care what Diane Feinstein,Barrack Obama, or Eric Holder have to say.
People are ALREADY stashing guns of various types, including ammunition in MANY different locations just in CASE the government gets to STUPID.
If the citizens REALLY knew how many cops are out on patrol MOST of the times they too would go buy a gun.
Bottom line who cares what the government says, we will defend ourselves as WE SEE fit, cause I know 911 is a CROCK of crap in MOST cases.
And for Sheriff McMahon and others who would be burdened enforcing this stuff, for his cops to begin to deal with that, he has to start telling the citizens to STOP calling 911 with all their senseless crap with thing like loud parties, my neighbor looked at me funny I want a police report JUST in case, I need an accident report because my insurance company said so.
And besides the jails are full and have been for a couple decades.
The politicians will continue to ENJOY their elitist life styles and know that when they call 911 a ton of cops will be at their doorstep in minutes, because the Chief or Sheriff are their BEST friends.
My finger goes out to those anti gunners, many who have NO CLUE and NEVER faced death first hand.
I just love those NAIVE people who tell me what’s best for me.
Stricter gun control only hurts law abiding citizens. I wish they would hand out more CCW’S. I know it takes time to do backgrounds for them and time requires money, but I wish there was a way to streamline the process. Bad guys will get guns regardless if they are all illegal or not. One solution is to have stricter gun laws for people who illegally possess them. I will take for instance, it is a felony to possess brass knuckles or a switch blade, but it is only a misdemeanor to possess a concealed firearm (unless other conditions exist, ie: minor, felon, drug addict etc…) The crime for felons with guns should be a lot stricter. The use of a gun in a crime should be stricter…There should be a minimum sentence of say 10 yrs that can’t be negotiated down or dismissed for the use of a firearm during the commision of a crime. So for example armed robbery if you take minimum sentence, your at minimum looking at 12 years…Start enforcing the death penalty on multiple murders…
Regarding school shootings, there has never been one where there was an SRO or armed security present. Metal detectors won’t help. Closed campus will delay deaths, but cops or armed security would be optimal.
I’m sure you are going to find most LE and Military are AGAINST gun control. Crooks don’t obey LAWS, making more laws isn’t going to make them start.
The general population has ALWAYS had military type weapons, from flint-locks to bolt-actions and lever action rifles. Now AR and AK type rifles. The 2nd amendment was not written to protect hunting and ‘sporting purposes’, it was written so the citizens of this country could protect themselves against the government, should that ever become necessary.
Restricting semi-automatic firearms and magazines that hold more then a specific number of rounds, will NOT work because those weapons are already plentiful. The only remedy would be confiscation, and that would result in the 2nd civil war.
Allow EVERYONE, that qualifies, to obtain a CCW permit. Punish the criminal, not the law abiding citizen. Fund mental health care. Make schools REPORT mentally unstable students. Abolish ‘gun-free zones’. that would be a start.
Well the last sheriff Hoops issued 400 CCW’s and revoked 150 since he was appointed until he quit. McMahon will do the same or less. Not much support for gun owners from those two. I hear how open and liberal SBSD is regarding CCW’s, that’s a lie.

Paul Schrader will make this County a shall issue County. He is the gun owners, hunters, and second amendment rights peoples best friend.
Mr. Paul Schrader also supports loaded open carry. Paul would work with county mental health on a screening system to ensue those with mental illness do not get CCWs.

No one can tell me I can’t protect myself or my family. If carrying a firearm is the best way to do that than I will carry one. And I will not ask permission from the sheriffs department and I will not pay their fees or participate in their interviews. It is my inalienable right to protect what’s mine. If the politicians or the federalised police do not like it too bad. I am not a sheep I will not be disarmed.
Hey Tom – You need to move to Arizona. You would fit right in. No permit required to carry a weapon, concealed or not. Come on in, the water’s fine!
ACU, You said McMahon won’t give a CCW endorsement to a retired cop, CAUSE he has high blood pressure.
I hear that he wants to revoke a few more from retired SBSD deps that went out on medical issues.
A guy I went to the academy with retired after many years on and has a jacked up back along other things. He was also screwed over several times on the promotional system (threw that in there because McMahon sucks along with the last 2 sheriffs).
He has been contacted by SBSD since McMahon was given the job, even though he qualifies and goes through the hoops, they want to talk to him about his CCW.
What a POS McMahon is.
McMahon to me is a guy that does not get it. But its OK to ride with Utah plates.
909 that’s interesting news. I just wonder how many Captains and above McMahon will visit and revoke their CCW’s for medical issues?
I know of no legal precedent for such actions, but again it’s SBSD who clearly seem to ignore the law as they see fit.
I would encourage anyone suddenly having such a problem to let SEBA know and contact LDME and see what they can do.
DO NOT seek the assistance of SHS on this issue they drag their feet like most everything else they do.
Is McMahon going to use the CCW endorsment as a carrot to do what?
