Some of us are old enough to remember when we had three choices for our nightly news: ABC, CBS and NBC. The senior citizens among us are old enough to remember when the choices were even fewer, limited to radio and newspapers.
Our forefathers did not envision satellite television or the internet, but they felt so strongly about the freedom of the press that it was included as one of the five rights guaranteed in First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. They perhaps, however, did not expect the media to be controlled by government through the almighty advertising dollar as is the case in so many local markets.
