Inside sources say Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector Larry Walker is considering a run for the seat to be vacated by Goria Negrete McLeod when she leaves for Congress. Walker is a Democrat and former Fourth District supervisor.
Walker has been under fire for several years over the treatment of staff in his office. It was his terminated long-time chief of staff Betsy Starbuck who became campaign manager for James Ramos. Other ACTT staffers worked towards a Ramos victory in hopes that he would take on Walker if elected. Ramos won easily.
Walker replaced Starbuck with Colonies scandal chief snitch Matt Brown. Brown and other family members have been accused of a variety of indiscretions, including misappropriation of federal funds but no action has ever been taken against them.

Even though I am a life long Democrat, I would vote for the Republican if Walker runs.
This is bad news. Same old opportunist getting ahead on the taxpayer dime as usual.
Sadly to say I would rather vote for Norma Torres instead of Larry Walker, both of them are swine.
This sounds like ‘the fox guarding the hen house’..as Walker seems to fall into coruption like a pig into mud, his election would not serve the public, but himself.
Interesting youn mention that Walker has been under fire for treatment of staff in his office. I worked in the Recorder’s Office under Chief Deputy Recorder De Ana Thompson and was ultimately forced to file a worker’s compensation claim due to the treatment I was subjected to. Just a few days ago, after a 4 year battle, the worker’s compensation judge who heard my case has ruled I was psychiatrically injured in the work place, by a supervisor (Thompson) who was “inadequate and inappropriate”. My attorneys estimate the county has spent in excess of $50,000 on this case and lost. They will spend more if they appeal, and I am one of just four former Recorder’s employees who worked for Thompson and filed claims, all of which the county paid lawyers to fight. Great use of taxpayer’s money, huh? In her ruling the judge says my testimony was credible and she believes I was inadequately supported and trained by my supervisor and was intimidated by her and not adequately or appropriately counseled by her. She understands why I was overwhelmed and stressed out in the workplace. Walker knew all about this and allowed it. I told Dennis Draeger about it too, don’t know why he has allowed her to remain in a position of power over staff, but I do plan to ask him what he plans to do now that a judge has ruled Thompson’s behavior in his office causes psychiatric industrial injury. In any event, if Walker runs for anything ever again I certainly will be on hand to tell the electorate about the abuse in his office he allowed. He also owes me an apology for calling me a “disgruntled employee”. Of course I don’t see that coming any time soon.
Congrats John. Glad to hear of your happy ending. It’s anyone’s guess how much the county has spent fighting me. Since they hired the same attorney to fight me they used to fight Uffer, I know they attributed some of what they spent on me to Uffer, who they spent more than a million dollars on legal fees only to give him more than $600,000 (I believe).
