Now that Joe Baca Sr. is going to be out of a job, someone suggested to me he would be a great replacement for Josie Gonzales. I don’t even know if he lives in the Fifth District or not since the congressional districts cover multiple areas.
I am not a Baca fan but I would take some semblance of intelligence over the babbling village idiot we have now. Certainly, he would be an effective supervisor even if us Reps. disagree with him. It’s not like the Fifth District will ever elect a Rep again, so might as well go with a known entity.
The problem is that Gonzales still has four years left. So that means a recall. If I am reading the rules correctly (and I am not going to guarantee that), it would take 14,900 valid signatures (meaning in reality 20-25,000) to start a recall.
You simply cannot depend on volunteers. Cost of paid signature gatherers would likely be in the $4 per signature area.
Anyway, food for thought.
PS: Ditto on Rutherford/Dutton. Of course, I have my own choice for the second district, but I’m not sure he will go along. Dutton needs a job and would make a much better supervisor than Rutherford.

Or… Joe Baca Sr. could run for Senate District 20/32. Since Republicans are not likely to give anyone the 953 bucks to run, it is Joe or Wilma Carter’s chance to run.
Working Joe is a complete moron….he has done extensive damage to the district he served. He can not deliver and is nothing more than a political thug…glad to see him go and hope he NEVER resurfaces.
This year was the first year I’ve ever voted for a Democrat in a partisan race. As someone who has had to live under Joe Baca’s ‘representation’ for as long as he’s been in congress, I was pleased to see I’d finally voted for a winner when Gloria beat Joe. Even though Gloria isn’t much to write home about, either – but at least she didn’t vote for any bankster bailouts and wasn’t robocalling me on my work cell phone every damned day for two weeks before the election.
Now that Joe is out of office, I’d ideally like to see him shunned by all, have to go into exile in a distant land, and die in shame after a long and depressingly unfulfilling retirement. Unfortunately, that is not the kind of society we live in. Given that, I’d much prefer he take the shoes of a lobbyist where he can do no direct damage than a supervisor’s chair if those are the two main options available.
