If I were a private citizen who knew nothing about this blog I would say John McMahon is a nice, well-spoken, credible, honest, soft-spoken man. He comes across very well on the witness stand, looks nice and acts professionally and with dignity. I guess I’m going to get my twenty lashes now.

Johnny is a nice guy, always has been. I don’t agree with some of his recent decisions, but that goes for most of the brass. 15 years ago I predicted he would be the Sheriff.
And like a used car salesman, he will lie to your face to get what he wants and to cover for his “buddies”
We don’t need a Hoop’s clone. Johnny Mack is a salesman. He will sell you a turd when you think your buying gold.
Never turn your back on him. The people who really know him, would never vote for him.
Just saying…
During my involuntary leave of absence (for those of you not in the know, I’m referring to my 2 yr. 1 mo. and 11 day termination, which was reversed, and eventually they paid me for it). Joh McMahon was one of a hand full of people that stood by me. He hid me out, at his Havasu Condo, when I didn’t want to see anyone. He treated me like family and I owe both him and Shelly.
Recently, I went to him about problems at Needles. He took my call, on a Saturday, and listened to what I had to say. He even brought it up at a meeting of the DC’s. I don’t agree with the decision they made, and I think he at least realizes he made a mistake, but at least he listened.
Like I said before, I predicted he would be Sheriff one day, and I think he will do a good job. My only worry is, I think the legacy of shit has stained everyone on the Executive staff. I believe the only way to change the perception of SBSD is to go ‘outside’ for leadership. That said, I still don’t think Paul Schrader is the answer.
I wish Johnny the best of luck and challenge him, as a friend, to change the perception of SBSD when he is elected. Oh yeah, I’ve seen his truck and it has CA plates.
OK guys bring it.
“OK guys bring it”.
OKAY Mike I will. That was a long time ago that happened Mike.
WE BOTH know that folks change. Have to change, expected to jump in line or get left behind. When EVIL is attached, there will be NO “cool” that sets that a side.
From what I hear John has been working hard politicing himself within the rank and file for quite a while.
Ya know shaking hands, slapping folks on the back. John even knows their names too.
I hear John is SO GOOD at it, Deputy Chief Scott Mesa is taking after him.
John may have kissed a few baby’s in the last few months.
People are really into “cool”. So MUCH so they look NO FURTHER than cool for the answers.
Well John’s TEST just for starters was what I saw on the witness stand a couple days ago.
Oh I saw the hand shaking and back slappin when he was done.
I would agree the “legacy of shit” has very much stained John and others.
John can be the NEW definition of cool for all those that haven’t payed attention lately, and there are MANY who haven’t.
Just what John needs right now.
But as long as John has to, and is expected to take care of the “good ol boys” like those before him, “COOL” don’t mean dittle to many of us.
Now before anyone jumps on John’s bandwagon like some did Hoops, BE CAREFUL, we might start digging and a truck load of CRAP will find it’s way to this blog.
McMahon has his fingerprints all over several admin cases right now, and EVERYONE one of them have a ton of stench attached to them.
When we can PROVE ol John is a man among men WHEN the chips are down, THEN we will talk about “COOL”.
But anyone who wants to put their manhood on the chopping block for John in hopes of getting a piece of the pie he will be handing out, BRING IT!!!!!
I get off telling folks I told you so these days.
John is a fine “used car salesman”, no question about it.
OUR job at this time, will be to LET everyone know how many of thsoe GREAT deals John made the went BAD.
And John has California plates on his truck MEANS what? He change his FRAUDULANT thought process ALL on his own, or someone helped him?
Just sayin!!!
From the California Penal Code.
32. Every person who, after a felony has been committed, harbors,
conceals or aids a principal in such felony, with the intent that
said principal may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction or
punishment, having knowledge that said principal has committed such
felony or has been charged with such felony or convicted thereof, is
an accessory to such felony.
Now maybe someone out there can tell us what this means in the BIG SCHEME of things and how it DOES NOT apply to John McMahon and others within SBSD.
SORRY I didn’t find the words “cool” as a defense to ANY of that.
Anyone is free to find a case decision where being “cool” is part of any JURY INSTRUCTION when deciding guilt on this issue.
REMEMBER before you speak, Deputy Orduno is charged FOR NOT SPEAKING up and blowing the whistle on Benjamins sexual affair with an explorer.
In addition he is charged with lying about the incident.
REALLY McMahon, REALLY?????
Cool WILL NOT over ride hypocrisy.
Now maybe John McMahon can tell us APPROXIMATELY how many times he has turned a BLIND EYE to things in violation of Penal Code section 32 in his many years with SBSD.
If Attorney Michael Schwartz had been doing his job, he could of asked John McMahon additional questions regarding McMahon’s concerns about honesty, integrity, when wearing the badge since McMahon PAINTED the picture himself.
Schwartz allowed McMahon to only play a few versus of that song.
Fassari, with all that said McMahon got where he got by stepping on people and like the other executives he had to kiss the ring. It was not about him being the hardest worker or the smartest person.
I agree we need an outsider and I think Paul Schrader is the best person for the job.
Also glad to see John got his new plates after getting caught. The little things like plates lead to bigger things that kings think they can do.
Mike, you know better than to just say hes okay because he did you a solid……. Just because he did you a solid doesn’t excuse all the liquid he threw on other people.
You had and still have A LOT MORE SUPPORT by friends and family than you ever had or will have from the car salesman, THATS a fact
Since the Executives only TRUE excitment in their daily duties is bringing misery to others, since many of them were SUB-STANDARD street cops what can you say.
A significant issue with McMahon is his witholding the CCW privledges of that detective for “hyper-tension”.
When you take the FACT that 9 other Executive Board members over the last several years have retired medically for “hyper-tension” and ALL have CCW’s, the story is explained by that alone.
No question many others can be added to the list. I bet a few citizen CCW holders have hyper-tension.
Still not convinced, drink your kool-aid and read some more.
Let’s take the recent and sudden retirement of Sergeant Kirk Lackman. Remember he was facing a “sexual harrasement” complaint?
Goes to IA and before they garrity him he turns in his badge and gun and say he is done.
Retires, guess what? Lackman has a CCW endorsement. He walked out the door with NO PENALTY.
When the detective went to his review board about the CCW, County Council Steven Singley said into the RECORD the detective had nothing in his file that he has done anything WRONG!!!!
Well John McMahon and crew STILL denied the detective his CCW.
Well NOW a Superior Court Judge has disagreed with the county and signed a re-mand order for a NEW HEARING for the detective.
I think the Judge was telling the County pull your head out of your kulo, because you are setting a precedent here you don’t want me to rule against.
So if you want to think McMahon has all this experience and WISDOM, at this moment, McMahon still hasn’t seen the light as to the potential situation.
Much like McMahon didn’t think much before he got up on the stand in the Orduno case when that stuff about, Brady, honesty, integrity spewed out of his mouth.
McMahon set a precendent, and one I think that is going to come right back and bite him in the azz.
So just on those two issues I have mentioned, ol John is NOT the brightest bulb in the pack.
I am sure some of you think “cool” is better than smarts.
As to the detective, let’s be REAL here, John was given the detective some pay back from LONG ago as the detective has beatin the County EVER single time they attempted to discipline in years past.
The detective simply went through the judicial process and beat the brass at their own game and won.
So John McMahon IS NOT smart or honorable enough to simply give out the CCW to the detective and bid him a happy retirement.
The line starts right here for you to tell us how John McMahan has jumped on the hand grenade for so many.
Go ahead Mike, you can be the first to tell us how John should get a crack and being a better cover up artist than Floyd,Gary, and Rod.
Are there other stories out there about John, yep heard a good one last night.
I will also say if SEBA attorney Howard Liberman wasn’t picking his nose like he usually does and went after the BS like a REAL lawyer does, we might not be having this conversation.
Mr. Fassari, I want you to know that the following comment is meant with no disrespect to you, please know this. You have made supportive comments of my effort, and I will appreciate that as long as I live, and that is no exaggeration. You posted a quote on this blog that I will never forget. To me it sums up what I am trying to do, and what others are trying to do. And we don’t always succeed, but we keep going because “all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”. John McMahon was good to you when others were not. I of all people understand how much that means to a person. If he is still that same person, then that is exactly what this department needs. But, if he is sitting by, silently going along with what is currently going on, than one has to question if he would do the right thing if put in the top spot. It appears so far that he has gone along with the current status quo. It seems to me that he will easily get appointed since I have no faith in the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to actually do anything that might cause them to take a minute and think and consider their options. So, I truly hope this man lives up to the support and friendship that you have given him.
Anon,
You nailed it right on the head!!!!
Now let me seal this deal.
John McMahon sat back and watched the staff at Needles station hammer away at Travis Bauer on a FMLA issue that thus far the County has LOST each and every argument they have attempted to bring forth. EVERYONE!!!!
They put Travis on a WPIP and FAILED to follow the procedure in administering the WPIP in EVERY way.
They forged documents to support their case.
John McMahon has NOT been smart enough to see that and CALL a CEASE fire.
Adding insult to injury their staff attorney Brady lawyer Cynthia O’Neal stepped all over her woman hood.
And would you believe Cynthia O’Neal is on “indefinate” FAMILY medical leave.
LMFAO, O’Neal is simply hiding from the process that has NOW focused on her, ie the Bar investigation and being DEPOSED by Bauer’s attorney’s.
O’Neal in SIMPLE terms is hiding behind the very law she has ignored in the Bauer matter FMLA. SB County CLASSIC in EVERY way.
STUPID is as STUPID does, and John McMahon is NOT bright enough to see the writing on the wall.
Or is it a another fine example of Executive Staff arrogance?
Much like the arrogance John McMahon displayed in getting his vehicles registered in Idaho because his over payed CHEAP ASS thought he could beat the system like so many others. OOPS!!!!
Yea vote for John McMahon for Sheriff, NOT!!!
