Cynthia O’Neil (sp?), the San Bernardino County deputy county counsel. who was caught red-handed and who is now the subject of a state bar investigation, has been replaced by an outside law firm. Hmm . . ..
This entry was posted in Government Corruption and tagged Government Corruption by Administrator
When are they gonna replace the idiot supervisors that were in on that debacle?
Travis Bauer should be honored that he has 3, I said THREE outside attorney’s attempting to fix STUPID in his case.
TWO lawyers JUST to handle the civil service hearing.
But I don’t think high dollar lawyers can fix stupid myself. We will see.
I don’t think former CAO Mark Uffer had this many attorney’s fighting him. PRICELESS!!!
Travis is just a deputy and get’s this type of attention. WOW!!!
We would like to welcome the Law Firm of Gutierrez,Preciado & House LLP of Pasadena, Ca to this case.
Specifically attorneys Clifton Baker and Amy Osborne.
It appears the County THINKS hiring outside council can fix the mess that has occurred in this case to date, and it’s a MESS beyond description at this time.
Of course if these talented lawyers can do that, I’ll be the first to tell everyone, and shake their hands as being the best of the best.
Reality is, this law firm like many others DO NOT have ANY IDEA the TRUE culture that exsists in San Bernardino County when it comes to defending the corrupt ones.
You really don’t think the corrupt ones are going to tell these two lawyers WHAT’s really going on do you???
But if these guys are the BIG GUNS for the County, we will see how they chop up the more experienced witnesses in this case. A CHALLENGE some of us look forward too.
I am dissappointed I won’t have a chance to fence with Mr.Singley Sheriff Hoops and Undersheriff Fonzi’s buddy. Oh well.
Sergeant Lopspeech, don’t attempt to run and hide by retiring early, don’t hide your personal wealth under others names, it won’t help you.
SEBA if your reading this, MORE freakin dirt has come up on you all.
Stay tuned it will be exposed when appropriate.
Boot it’s your fault when you told me I was wrong about SEBA being corrupt. A rookie SBSD deputy should NEVER tell an old salt he is wrong until they have done their homework.
Listeing to Eagleson,Tate,Hadden is NOT doing your homework SON!!!!
Much like Just Curious attempting to downplay the Duane Parkinson debacle.
It’s just makes me dig deeper for the dirt to expose is all.
Pisses folks off behind the scenes too!!!!
I think a bigger compliment may go to the Law Firm he initially paid for out of pocket to represent him, LDME. He is likely responsible the the final blow being dealt to SHS and from what I hear, he isn’t stopping with just O’Neil……… Rumor has it McMahon, Marnati, Tarangle, Lotspeich, and Smith are in his sights….. Federal court is not kind to those who violate FMLA and retaliate against those who exercise those rights. Better yet, against those managers, IE McMahon failing to be a true leader and stop the behavior, and instead he right on que with what kind of Croni he is, covers and assists his “buddies” Lacy and Marnati conspire to do this deputy wrong on all levels….. I cant wait to see how much they pay out of pocket to this deputy when it is all said and done…. their only hope is that they settle out of court, the county can pay their portion then……
Good work to that deputy for fighting the good fight
Yes LDME deserves much credit for this case and several other issues.
It is clear they LISTEN to their client. Did everyone read that, LDME LISTENS to their client.
The difference between LDME and SHS is like night and day.
All the more reason to SUSPECT SEBA’s
contract issue with SHS is BOGUS and a simple excuse to keep them around to protect the regime.
I suspect at this point that SEBA’s political advisor David Ellis has had some input in that also.
Ellis can’t have his clients Rod Hoops and Mike Ramos beatin up in the courtroom anymore than necessary.
Think Boot before you ever pitch the “hope and change” rhetoric again.
The mere fact you support Sergeant Dupper for VP enlight of his conflict as a city councilman for Loma Linda, and his actions in the Duane Parkinson matter are telling.
It’s clear you all step in one pile of dung, then right into another. That’s what the FACTS show.
Yes let the facts be known that it was a Deputy Sheriff who brought Cynthia O’Neal serious grief for her mis-conduct, NOT another lawyer.
So even though the County has hired some new faces WILL NOT prevent them from having complaints filed against them if they should be so foolish as to think EVERYONE is stupid but them.
I have researched the State Bar website, I cannot find ANYTHING that suggests ONLY a client can file a complaint against an attorney.
What does that mean to me? If I witness or have EVIDENCE misconduct took place, I or someone else can file a formal complaint against a member of the bar.
Much like a citizen who observes police misconduct can file a complaint. Direct involvment is NOT necessary.
So you lawyers who have enjoyed playing your games with people in support of your clients misdeeds BEWARE!!!!
The worst that can happen is the State Bar refuses to investigate the complaint.
One does not break NEW ground on issues unless one TRYS to be inventive from time to time.
I think that time has arrived around here.
Pay attention County Council, you all have a SERIOUS problem misleading hearing officers as to the facts of a situation, WAY to much.
I DO NOT find a statue of limitations for filing complaints against a lawyer either.
If someone else has information to the contrary, PLEASE let us know.
And any member of County Council who ALLOWS their client to say “I don’t recall” or “can’t remember” MIGHT be suborning perjury.
That is yet to be determined or tested.
What is SEBA going to do with a Brady Attorney and a Brady Executive Staff member?
Serious issue. Both have committed crimes in their OFFICIAL capacity.
Both have taken part in terminations and prosecutions of SBSD employees.
They have both shown they break the very laws and policies they enforce upon others.
The evidence is compelling and leaves little doubt as to what they have done.
How many victims are out there is the question?
These recent incidents are not an abberation, they are a common practice.
Deep rooted and practiced as often as needed.
Now they have been caught.
Q. Would you please state and spell your name for the record please.
A. Rodney R-O-D-N-E-Y, Ray R-A-Y, Hoops H-O-O-P-S.
Q. And you are the Sheriff of San Bernardino County; is that correct?
A. Yes
Q. All right, I should appropriately address you as “Sheriff Hoops”?
A. You can call me “Rod” or “Sheriff Hoops”, whatever–
Q. Okay
A. — whatever works
Q. Thank you sir.
Have you ever given testimony under oath before?
A. Yes
Q. On how many occasions has that occurred?
A. 25 or 30
Q. And how did you acquaint yourself with Mr.Ellis towards the end?
A. He was–he was introduced to me by Mike Ramos, the District Attorney.
Note: Questions posted out of sequence
Q. Have you ever had occasion to discuss with Mr. Ellis anything related to the Parkinson death?
A. Not–not that I recall.
Q. Let me ask you this sir, as to the time you left the Parkinson home, did you ever learn anything further about how the accident occured?
A. No
Q. All right. You also noted he was killed at the TC site?
A. Yes
Q. And was it your understanding that he was dead at scene?
A. Yes
Q. All right. And the source of your information in that regard was what?
A. Not specifically– can’t specifically remember, but I want to believe one of my staff members that were there.
Q. Again,you don’t have to speculate, but–
A. I don’t know.
Note: Question taken out of sequence.
Q.Did you ever reach out to Mrs.Parkinson at anytime after you left her home?
A. No
Q. What do you recall discussing at this lunch, sir?
A. I really don’t remember much of the specifics. When I talked to Pete Ortiz on the phone he said I talked about Nebraska football. I’m from Nebraska, big Nebraska fan, so that would lead me to believe that one of the Stouts had some kind of contact to Nebraska.
Q. Okay.
A. It’s very vague. I want believe that I probably said something like the Irvine Police Department investigating the–the accident, but I don’t remember and specific conversation–it was basically lighthearted–not lighthearted like laughing, but basically just general conversation, not specific about the case.
OH this stuff is some of the best BULLSHIT I have ever been honored to read.
Good Reddens to the no-load!!!!! 25-30 times, what a JOKE………. Shows you what HE HASN’T DONE HIS WHOLE CAREER……..LOSER
OMG! I wish I could say I don’t believe it but I can’t!
Blasé I would say a “bean counter” is the most appropriate when you read the resume.
DEFINATELY no combat veteran here!!! It’s been SO long ago he arrested anyone,
SEBA’s Boot was in infant,
But the served with HONOR thing as Rutherford would have the unknowing
sheep of SB County believe, OH PLEASE!!!!
Now EVERYONE, to put some of this in a better perspective, YOUR beloved Sheriff filed a MOTION in Orange County Superior Court under the BELIEF he is EXEMPT from being depoed because HE is the Sheriff.
Remember NOT even the President of the United States is EXCEPT from being deposed.
But Rod Hoops thought he was.
Not sure who the brainchild was who thought of that, but I’m still laughing.
Guess you don’t know about such things when you have only testilied 25 or 30 times.
Of course you don’t gain a lot of valuable experience when you deal with, tweekers, parolee’s, and gangbangers who never graduated high school.
Just no competition or challenge in all that.
NO the Orange County Judge probably said “REALLY” when he or she read the motion, but Hoops motion was DENIED and he was ordered to give the depo.
After listening to Assistant Sheriff John McMahon and his redition of Brady, honesty, forthright answers,at Orduno’s Civil Service hearing, I have to be honest and just about PUKED.
I will talk about John McMahon again. Is he a bad guy at first glance, NO, not at all.
He’s a damn fine “used” car salesman though. Looks good in a suit too.
McMahon is a POS liar too……… His day is coming
Where is everyone???
Blase’,
I know where McMahon lives. I can take you over to his house so you can man up and say it to his face.
His wife is actually very nice. I’m sure she’ll feed you while you read her husband the riot act.
Your being the ‘net muscle & all, I’m sure you’ll be all over this invite and man right on up.
Have you figured out when a crime has occurred? You still runnin’ off your own penal code? Or have you figured out that there’s only one penal code in CA?
Right after you get a life
and your douche bag brother Peter gets a clue….. No wonder you like McMahon so much, the 3 Amigos……….
Press Enterprise:
Also gone Wednesday was Assistant Public Defender Peter Scalisi, the attorney who headed the Capital Defender’s Office, a unit that reports to Windom. Attorneys in Scalisi’s office exclusively represent clients facing the death penalty.
Scalisi was disciplined last month by the State Bar Court with a stayed two-year suspension that allowed him to continue practicing law.
Blase’,
The issue is your gross incompetence. You have a rap sheet for being unable to Google up accurate information.
So are you going to man up or cower derelict style?
So, tell me, Blase’, when is a crime committed?
How many felonies have you kissed off this week due to gross incompetence?
If I’d of trained you, you’ve been stocking Depends at Target, which would have still been above your ability. You’d probably be on Depends monthlies.
Q. Did you speak to the Stouts anytime before you met them for lunch?
A. I have a–on No.9 I said I–well, that’s–he called her, but at some point down here–I did remember talking to her on the phone at one time I believe. To the best of my recollection, Pete Ortiz suggested I should–that he talked to her and it would be a nice gesture, humanitarian thing to do, if I were to call them–as the department head–and just ask how they were doing and I believe I talked to her one time on the phone. I believe I did.
Q. Before the lunch?
A. I–yes.
Q. And do you remember if she called you, or you called her, how did that transpire?
A. I don’t remember
Q. And do you have a recollection of the content of the discussion with her?
A. Not–no
Q. All right. How long did that conversation last.
A. I don’t know. Short I got to believe.
Q. Was it within the conversation that you made arrangements for lunch?
A. I don’t think–I don’t know if I made the arrangements or Deputy Chief Ortiz made the arrangements. I don’t recall.
Questions taken out of sequence.
Q. Where did you meet for lunch.
A. I don’t remember the exact restaurant, but it was someplace down by the old El Toro Marine Corp base, in that general area. I don’t remember the name of the restaurant.
Q. All right. It was attented by you, Deputy Chief Ortiz, and Mr. and Mrs. Stout; correct?
A. Yes
Q. Who paid for lunch?
A. I believe I–I think I paid for lunch credit card or cash.
Question taken out of sequence.
Q. And as you sit here right now, you have no recall as to whether you paid for it by cash, personal credit card, or county credit card; correct?
A. I want to say I paid it with either my own cash or my own credit card, but I’m not 100 percent certain.
Special Note:
Sheriff Hoops after being notified by County Council Steven Singley he had a subpoena in this matter decided to make some notes to himself regarding this entire matter.
There were 19 bullet points as described by testimoney.
Many of these bullet points were a single word or a short sentence.
Sheriff Hoops read each one into the record. He explained what those words or sentences meant to him in order to refresh his memory.
Unfortunately when questioned in more detail by the Parkinson family attorney about the specifics, or tried to obtain more detail, Sheriff Hoops could almost NEVER remember, or recall.
I would say on the conservative side that Sheriff Hoops could not remember or recall about 90% percent of the questions asked of him. PATHETIC is an understatment.
Now using SBSD standards for charging one with untruthfulness, not being forthright, less than candid, Sheriff Hoops would be charged just like he and his minions have charged SO MANY others for much less.
I’d really like Deputy Chief Cusimano to read all this and look me in the face and tell me, this depo is just fine.
That he sees NO DECEPTION and that Hoops is very forthright in his answers.
Now take Sheriff Hoops news article from the Sun newspaper from today about his departure and his ability to RECALL an event from 30 years ago is a NICE tool to gauge his credibility by.
Maybe Steven Singley can explain that away. Oh wait how about Cynthia O’Neal?
Am I the only one that has this opinion? OH NO there are a few others who have read this depo. They are ALL shaking their heads with disbelief at the obvious deception.
Those of you who wish to continue to drink the Kool-aid and say he was just being a nice guy and didn’t do anything wrong, THEN I say to you, your Sheriff should have grabbed the bull by the horns and been a matter of fact in ALL his answers.
His comment about the humanitarian act is so over shadowed by his LACK of CANDOR is obvious.
His attempting to AVOID the depo by filing a motion just adds fuel to the fire.
Good riddens Hoops, this is a cops family you played with for a political favor for Dave Ellis if not someone else.
You have no priors for doing this and that too speaks for itself.
You played the game of POLITICS as you have for years, this time you got caught and had your ASS handed to you by the wife of one of your cops.
BUT this incident involved one of your own and that makes you a SCUMBAG for what you did when challenged by Mrs.Parkinson.
Is there more to come on all this, I SURE hope so.
Thank you Mrs.Parkinson, I am honored to have been involved in letting the world know what happened.
Now you SBSD people who turned a blind eye to this, may you HOLD your head in shame.
And you Steven Singley, member of County Council are a scumbag. Now that we know how you roll, your on the radar screen too.
That’s my opinion I am sticking to it. BUT I HAVE something to back it up, DO ANY of you?
Good day!!!
The issue is your a loser, everyone knows it, you are “BackInOC” and your life is so pathetic you can’t move on. You don’t live in the county anymore, allegedly, go find a hobby, play in traffic, I don’t care, just go away. I am not entertained with your lame rants. Your the most awesome officer on the planet. I get it. You have the bigger willy, good for you, I don’t know what a crime, I would be boxing at Target, yippie!!!
Anything else Mr Black list? Can you visit your kids yet? Anyway I can help you in your superior complex therapy just let me know, I am here for you….
Stay Stupid
You’re welcome ACU. As for letting the world know what happened, there is an interesting story to this. The driver, Taryn Stout, was interviewed twice by the Irvine Police Department. The first interview was the afternoon of the fatal collision(August 10, 2011). As I have said before, there were some odd behaviors by the Sheriff’s Department early on, and unknown to me at the time, there was the lunch on Sept. 6, 2011. But, what I and my family thought were odd and suspicious behaviors in the early days would have stayed just that, suspicions, if it were not for the second interview. The second interview was on November 4, 2011. I don’t know if Detective Cherney made her nervous or what she was thinking, but I can’t help but wonder why she brought up the lunch. If she hadn’t said anything, none of this would be happening because I never would have known. I can’t imagine Sheriff Hoops thought she would bring his name up in a transcribed interview in an official Irvine Police Department report. He would have to have known that would not look good. I therefor am assuming he thought she would keep his involvement to herself. So, the betrayer of my husband was betrayed himself!! Now betraying own of your own in law enforcement is worse than being betrayed by someone you didn’t know and should not have helped, but I still find some small sense of satisfaction in knowing he probably knows he got screwed over himself by her. So, to Rod Hoops, Taryn Stout threw you under the bus! Ha! You should have known better. She made a fool out of you. (all in my opinion of course;-)
Odd behavior by some is an understatement Mrs P.
As I have seen over the years and I am sure there are others who have seen the same.
The political cronies have certain people on speed dial, they use it whenever they run into trouble.
Edward Stout was connected to Dave Ellis because of his wealth, and because of the Republican Party.
I am sure Dave Ellis being the idiot he is told everyone in Orange County he is Mike Ramos and Rod Hoops campaign manager.
Ellis made another debut in the City of Fullerton and that mess down there.
Ya know the automatic perception that “I am good” because of who I work for thing?
Everyone who BELIEVES they have a powerful politician in their back pocket TELLS or uses their, “get out of free jail card” whenever they need to.
I could tell you some stories about those that I have stopped in the normal course of my duties and their comments about WHO they know. PRICELESS!!
The problem with some of those people are they LOOK DOWN on you like your a peasant or something.
Like they are above you because they are friends with the Sheriff of District Attorney.
Hmmm ya know what pal, PRESS HARD 4 copies, tell the Sheriff I said hello when you whine to him.
Some of us remember how Mike Ramos dismissed two Deputies out of Yucaipa station like they were privates in the Army who were investigating a disturbance at a location he was partying at.
Ramos’s arrogance should have been met with a set of handcuffs. Ramos drunk as a sailor, talking his usual smack.
Hoops testimony on his current status with Ellis was also a lie. SEBA uses Dave Ellis as a political advisor at this time.
How did Ellis get that postion? With Mike Ramos and Rod Hoops help. Talk about sleeping with the dogs.
To me that is a SERIOUS conflict. So Hoops comments to your attorney about not having spoken to Ellis in several months was also a lie.
The problem with these people they all think they are smarter than us, but it might just be the arrogance versus ignorance.
The problem with SBSD over several decades is, they won’t HESITATE to screw over one of their own if there is a POLITICAL agenda in place.
Rod Hoops didn’t hesitate to help out the Stout family at the behest of Ellis, NO question about that.
We have ALL seen that even BLIND LOYALTY will not stop you from getting thrown under the bus. We have seen that in this last year or so.
The fear of retaliation that grips this county is telling.
And these dummy’s think with John McMahon being appointed as Sheriff thing will change have NO CLUE, it will be business as usual.
John McMahon will no doubt have his own style, but the end result will still be the same as it was with Tidwell,Penrod and Hoops.
The last 3 Sheriff’s have all left with clouds over their heads, who are their minions trying to fool?
But it appears the “little people” are giving them hell, and it is well deserved.
Hoops saying he is leaving on his own is laughable.
He can’t go along for more than a couple months before stepping on his manhood.
Hoops REALLY crossed the line on this one.
Mrs.P don’t worry to much about our BOS, they are two notches below Hoops on intelligence.
I pitty Janice Rutherford and Edith Bunker Gonzales in their comments and assistance towards Hoops without first checking OTHER areas before OPENING their mouths.
You just CANNOT fix stupid!!!
Blasé,
You have an extensive rap sheet for argumentum ad hominem that’s laden with threats and intimidation. This is the pinnacle of your arguing ability because you lack knowledge born of reason and logic. I have yet to read a post of yours in which your thesis was factually supported. In fact, you have a tendency to meld opinion with fact. What you think is true, what you want to believe is true, what you have based law enforcement action upon believing its foundation was true, is/have all been false.
Were you the grasp the intellectual foundation of understanding concepts that are based upon facts, you’d be in much better position to deduce correct courses of action; to wit: why there is no reporting timeline inherent in any crime. Know this fact, Blasé, for it will greatly assist your ability to deliver professional service to those whom pay your salary: –not to be confused with whether you’re deserving of such munificence- victims are under no legal obligation to report any crime to authorities. If and when they do is entirely their prerogative.
You claim to be a hunter; of what has yet to be determined. Implicit within this megalomania is the image you want to convey as a Dirty Harry crime fighter. However, sans knowledge of the career in which you operate, in reality you’re Barney Fife muddling through behind a veil of ability that you’ve sewn around your face. A lifting of your veil would reveal discombobulating confusion that you’re desperately trying to conceal.
Blasé, you post here behind a pseudonym yet you attempt to intimidate others by ratting them out, which explains your symbiotic connection to another self-avowed rat that posts here. However, he’s chosen to not hide behind a pseudonym shield. That was his decision. Your pseudonym allows you to attempt to threaten and intimidate others like a Chihuahua that yaps big dog bark then runs behind her pit bull.
You have posted comments here about other SBSO deputies all the while Chihuahuaing behind a veil of identity secrecy. This is cowardly. Man up. You have attacked McMahon, a guy I have met many times in social occasions. While I know not of his professional ability, he is genuinely a nice guy. He has a wonderful family. His father-in-law is one of the nicest men I have ever met.
Using ACU’s reasoning –which isn’t always rooted in reason- if you’re going to yap about others, then your true identity must be disclosed. However, since you’re obviously ACU’s source of SBSO’s confidential information and possibly his only friend, I do not expect ACU to rat you out as his propensity when HE believes going rat route is required. While I once foolishly trusted ACU believing his rat jacket was unearned, he has proved to me that he’s earned his rat whiskers and spindly rat tail.
I will acknowledge your willingness to substantiate what others having had misfortune of knowing via direct SBSO derelict deputy contact. And therein lies the dilemma of SBSO administrators: how to manage and supervise SBSO deputies that are routinely derelict. The more knowledgeable and professional cops, the less direct management and supervision required. Vice verse is also true.
Blasé, there is no doubt in my mind that I could ask you three basic law enforcement questions that would leave you perplexed and comatose. These questions are as basic to law enforcement as blood pressure is to medicine and friction is to engineering. Yet you wouldn’t be able to answer them.
Blasé, you’re a man fighting to retain an image of competence all the while knowing that your battle is tenuous. As evidenced by your adding elements to the penal code prerequisite to dereliction of duty, you will alter facts in order to justify substandard performance therefore triggering administration’s micromanaging of you.
Blasé, I know you, not your identity but your incompetence. You’re afflicted with megalomania. You believe you’re more intelligent than your bosses and other deputies, and you attempt to convey this illusion with a tough guy facade. You have watched other deputies earn promotions that you feel should have been awarded to you. You resent this; your resentment causing burn out. This forces you into a state of deeper despair. Your latent desire is to lash out at those whom you feel have wronged you; hence, your pseudonym posts here castigating those whom you feel lack ability to judge just how bright you are.
Blasé, you will end your career pushing a desert sled and interacting with those whom you have irrationally grown to hate. You lack ability of introspection and self-assessment. Unless you enjoy desert sledding, you must ask yourself how you ought to alter your personality in order to transform yourself into a deputy your sheriff can trust with promotion. Should you lack this ability, you’ll go 10-8 every day fighting the wrong battle. For the battle in which you’re mired is not with SBSO but with yourself.
Blasé, if you could have lateraled, you would have. In fact, I’d be willing to go a cup of joe that you have tried but were declined. Therefore, unless you want to stock Depends at Target, you’re going to have to resign yourself to the fact that desert sledding is where it will all end for you. Or you can transform yourself into a deputy that your sheriff can trust with promotion. Weather you have fortitude to become your own man and man up to your shortcomings is doubtful. However, Blasé, your resentment and hatred for your current career status is as evident as ACU’s rat status.
As always, Blasé, I am more than willing to share a cup of coffee with you. Maybe you can learn something from me, maybe not. All you’ll have invested is time since I’m good for the check.
While you’re considering my offer, allow me to suggest your subscribing to the “California Peace Officers’ Legal Sourcebook”. I’ve found it to be the single best source of law enforcement information. You might also want to consider subscribing to the “FBI LE Bulletin”. While not as practical as the former, it is an excellent professional journal.
Happy Holidays
Blase,
Here’s a Persian proverb that might help you. Read it; comprehend it; and know where you fit it:
He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool; avoid him.
He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a student; teach him.
He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep; wake him.
He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man; follow him.
Hoops got what he deserved.
Blase’ u next?
Next at what Little?
If your thinking I am a Hoops fan, you must have me confused cause I cant stand Corky
