(San Bernardino) – For those who think their votes do not count in the city of San Bernardino, they better think again. Georgeann“Gigi” Hanna, at least for now, is the new city clerk, and she won the election by a margin of two votes.
In the race to replace retiring city clerk Rachel Clark, Hanna received 6066 votes. Her opponent, Amelia Sanchez-Lopez, received 6064 votes.
Certified election results will be provided by the county registrar’s office on Monday, but Hanna isn’t waiting to get started. “I’ve prepared to hit the ground running. The challenges will come as they will, and we will respond accordingly, but the work of the city clerk’s office continues nonetheless,” said Hanna in a written statement.
