From a reader: I hear the Victorville deputy who was texting and involved in a fatal on duty car accident in sept 2012 either took a plea bargain or was charged with vehicular manslaughter this past Thursday or Friday. Not sure but I think his name is moody (remember not sure of the name) from one of the Victorville area sheriffs stations.
by Administrator with 4 CommentsThe conservative movement in California is looking for a savior. And they need a savior. California as a state needs a savior.
Every state-level elected official is a Democrat. Democrats control a super majority in both houses of the state legislature. And the expected result is higher taxes, job loss and promotion of a very left-wing agenda with bills such as AB 1266, a bill that will allow students to use shower and restroom facilities based on gender identity rather than their genitalia. Yes, we need a savior.
by Administrator with 3 CommentsBefore California’s landmark Hayden Bill was enacted, municipal animal shelters in the state routinely adopted out intact animals capable of creating generations of new homeless dogs and cats that would wind up in the shelter down the road. Yes, some shelters did offer incentives to spay and neuter, but mostly irresponsible people were allowed to adopt animals that in turn were allowed to procreate freely, increasing the pet overpopulation problem.
At the worst point in our nation’s history, 30 million animals a year were killed for lack of suitable homes. And at that time in history, “compassionate” killing was the exception, not the norm. Decompression chambers, gas chambers and heart sticks were a common way to kill unwanted pets, all of which are excruciating ways to die.
by Administrator with No CommentsI came across this video on a local elected politician’s website. To say it is controversial is putting it mildly. But I also think it is a mindset that is becoming more popular as technology becomes both more intrusive, as with the NSA scandal, and more documentative, as with any of the police beating cases such as Kelly Thomas. Speaking of which, I noticed the Allan Kephart case on calendar for Tuesday for the BOS in closed session.
by Administrator with No CommentsDid you hear that the Chief Probation Officer just got a 7.5% raise thanks to the AB109 Monies?
by Administrator with No CommentsSo was he or wasn’t he in compliance: 13.112.Gilbert.pra records Gilbert.pra 13.112.initial w docs My concern was and remains the fact he was trying to bully those exercising their First Amendment rights while also trying to give the impression he was an FBI agent.
by Administrator with 3 CommentsMs. Gilbert: Your California Public Records Act Request seeking information relating to Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit applications received by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (Department), dated June 5, 2013 and directed to the Civil Liabilities Division via email, has been reviewed. The following is in response to the questions you posed and the records you seek: 1. Between January 1, 2013 and May 31, 2013, 450 CCW permit/license applications were received by the Department. 2. 285 were approved, 30 were denied, and 135 are still pending. 3. Attached you will find the CCW Applicant Instructions (5 pages) which contains information responsive to your request for a list of requirements that must be completed before a CCW permit is approved.

by Administrator with 53 CommentsI did a public records request with the Redlands Police Department to determine the name of the individual in the video wearing the FBI Tucson shirt. His name is Sgt. Yzquierdo and he is with the Redlands Police Department. There is some additional information I have requested and that request was forwarded to the city attorney.
by Administrator with 9 CommentsInquiring minds want to know. Of course, inquiring minds have already been told but want to see what the official story is.
by Administrator with 4 CommentsSharon,
I decided to send this to you, rather than into the county where it would be only swept-under the rug
While driving my commute from Twin Peaks to Riverside on May 21st, I spotted a white SUV with “Exempt” plates hauling buns down the mountain, driven by a man with gray-ish hair. It was doing over 80 MPH at the straiughtaway near mile marker 11 on Highway 18, where the speed limit is 55.
by Administrator with 11 CommentsHere are a couple of new websites that are being added to the blogroll: AB109News.com and PacificWhaleWatching.org.
by Administrator with No CommentsI have been totally silent for months regarding ReformSBCounty.com. I’m sure most everyone thinks it is a dead issue.
Well, it is not. I’ve simply been too busy to deal with it.
But time is wasting and we have politicians up for re-election (or in McMahon’s case, election) that need to be replaced. And I have a number of new tools available to me.
by Administrator with 1 CommentI had another encounter with a local school bus today. I have a question.
Are flashing amber lights the same as flashing red lights? I ask this because this was the fourth or fifth time in which I witnessed a local school bus driver pull over to the side of the road with amber lights only and allow the kids to cross in front of the bus without red flashing lights. These buses, at least the ones that are near my house, do not seem to have red lights or they are not used. They also don’t use the red stop sign that pops out very often.
by Administrator with 2 CommentsSan Bernardino County Sheriff candidate Paul Schrader, along with members of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots and other concerned citizens, staged a counter protest on Saturday at the site of the Redlands Police Department’s gun buyback program. Those turning in their guns received a Stater Bros. gift certificate ranging from $50 to $200, depending on the type and condition of the weapon, if they turned the weapons into police. Philip Naman, a member of the Redlands Tea Party Patriots, and Bill Rhetts, a chaplain for IPOC Ministries, Inc., coordinated the counter protest (see video). They had a licensed federal firearms dealer on hand to assess guns and offer citizens a fair amount for those guns that were worth more than $50 to $200. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator with 8 CommentsDuring Tuesday’s regular meeting of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, Chairman Janice Rutherford’s proposal to hire a former Postmus corruption figure is expected to receive unanimous approval. The contract to approve Joshua White as Rutherford’s policy advisor is on the consent calendar. White’s salary package totals $98,469 per year. Josh White first made headlines as a 19-year-old staffer to then-Assessor Bill Postmus. Eyebrows were raised because White was earning in excess of $40,000 a year for unspecified duties. He, along with Adam Aleman, carried out what the Grand Jury called “public image” duties rather than those that are considered “core functions” of the elected office. by Administrator with 2 CommentsThis is what happened in Redlands.
by Administrator with 37 CommentsThe naysayers better not even suggest that it won’t happen. We already have one sheriff who has been on probation for taking guns that were not his for his private collection. I hear some of the guns turned in today as part of the buy back program were very nice and worth some money. Some were collectors items. Does anyone really believe those will become rebar? Well I guess there are those who will brown nose no matter what. It is also interesting that Stater Bros. was the choice for gift cards. That would have anything to do with Jack Brown being a big sheriff’s campaign contributor, would it? Of course not. There would never be payola or payback in San Bernardino County. Tell me again why he has a CCW?
by Administrator with 2 CommentsI think I have been fair in my treatment of Supervisor James Ramos since he took his seat as Third District Supervisor for the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. Stories have come my way that I chose not to write simply because I thought he deserved a chance to prove himself. Despite all of the concerns, especially about his relationship with Josie Gonzales, it seems Ramos is doing a decent job. I can’t really find fault with much. EXCEPT, I am a constituent and I have contacted his office several times both as a constituent and as a reporter and neither he nor his staff will return my emails. I have tried both regular email and thru Facebook. Nada, nothing. So James, do you only represent those that give you campaign donations or what? I would like to know.
