What would you say if your union rep told the captain that he would help get rid of the employee but he needed to know that if he did so he would be made a sergeant down the road? AND was stupid enough to put it in writing?
by Administrator with 3 CommentsI have been provided information that a Lieutenant John Ginter is retiring. I have not yet checked the SBCERA minutes but am told the information is there.
by Administrator with 2 CommentsI have been told that Brett Henry was the subject of a no confidence vote and is no longer the union leader. Can anyone confirm, deny or clarify? I would like to see some kind of proof so that I can do a story if true.
by Administrator with No CommentsThe Manzanar National Historic Site sits on 6,200 acres on the west side of Highway 395 between Lone Pine and Independence, California. It is overshadowed by the beauty and awe of the majestic Sierra Nevadas. From the highway, Manzanar looks innocuous. One who does not know history would not be inclined to stop and visit what looks to be mostly dirt and trees with remnants of a few old buildings. But for those who know their history, a journey thru Manzanar tells the story of a troubling and dark side of American history, a history some now think could be repeated with a new set of victims. Manzanar was the first of ten relocation camps building built during World War II to house Japanese-Americans. More than 110,000 people were uprooted from their homes and businesses and forced at gunpoint to move. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator with No CommentsA whole lot of things went into iePolitics being mostly dormant for a period of time. One of them was the murder of Jeremiah McKay. It did not feel right to be dissing a department in mourning. Now we see that Sheriff McMahon is going to ride in the Big Bear Heritage Parade with the Sheriff’s Rangers. That might not be a big deal except the sheriff is up for election AND the grand marshal of the parade is the other SBCo. deputy wounded by Christopher Dorner. In other words, McMahon will use the pain and suffering that Alex Collins has gone thru to further his own political career. I do not know if Collins is a McMahon supporter or not but I do know that Jeremiah McKay was a Paul Schrader supporter. This seems like political whoring at its finest.
by Administrator with 6 CommentsThe city of San Bernardino can add yet one more stain to its reputation that has led to it being named one of the nation’s most poorly run cities. The city was once the “per capita” murder capital in the country and now it wants the title again, only with a different sort of victim. Maria Sanchez, a local animal advocate, learned of the city’s deadly new policy this past Saturday. All unweaned animals surrendered to the shelter will be killed immediately unless a rescue is onsite to accept them at the time of surrender. Sanchez visits the shelter almost daily to photograph and videotape animals needing homes. On Mother’s Day eve, a box of tiny puppies was surrendered to the shelter without their mother. by Administrator with No CommentsWe are still waiting to hear of an internal affairs investigation into the roughing up of the off-road motorcyclist. I wonder how long we shall have to wait?
by Administrator with 7 CommentsWell, the answer is the Big O. Is this making anyone else feel a bit more hopeful?
by Administrator with No CommentsIt seems Johnny Mac has had a bit of a rough time lately. From what I hear, a certain federal deposition didn’t go too well. Now we are hearing that our good sheriff wants to get SEBA’s endorsement NOW, so they can’t back out. We are even hearing he is using some heavy handed maneuvers to assure he gets it. Time will tell.
by Administrator with 5 CommentsToday, like every other day in the United States, 10,000 healthy dogs and cats will be killed for lack of a good home. They include newborns, puppies and seniors, mutts and purebreds, designer dogs and hard-to-find breeds. It is why within the rescue community breeders are looked at with such scorn. For every puppy or kitten brought into this world by the breeding community, a shelter animal dies. Although headway is being made to educate the public about the issues with breeding for money, most of those wanting a new puppy still believe they will only find what they want if they buy from a breeder. If you are one of those who will accept nothing other than a puppy purchased from a breeder, here are some tips to help you find an animal that has a better chance at a long, healthy life. First, let’s look at the reasons to breed. There are two. The first is to make money. The second is for betterment of the breed. If you buy from a breeder who is only interested in making money, you are buying a puppy that is a heartache waiting to happen. If you buy from a responsible breeder, you will likely have a happy, healthy animal. To read the rest of the story, click here.
by Administrator with No CommentsCalico Ghost Town in Yermo, California, will be a bit livelier this weekend as the town presents its annual Spring Festival with some good old-fashioned entertainment. The festivities start on Saturday, May 11 at 9 a.m. and continue thru Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12 at 5 p.m. when the Calico shops close. In between you can entertain your mom with a blacksmith demonstration, a pie eating contest, a fry pan toss, a ghost tour and, of course, gunfights. Not that guns, ghosts and fry pans are not worthy of a visit, it’s the music that makes this celebration the most special of the year. Entertainers include Bluegrass group Fiddle & Pine, Debby Clinkenbeard and Eric Uglum, Saddle Strings, Jason Charles Miller, and Henry Fencepost. Calico Ghost Town is a San Bernardino County Regional Park. In its heyday, Calico had 500 mines and 1,200 residents. In 1951 it was purchased by Walter Knott and in 1966 he donated it to San Bernardino where it became a regional park. To read the rest of the story, click here.

by Administrator with No CommentsState campaign documents paint an unexpected picture of Paul Leon’s campaign to replace Gloria Negrette McLeod in the California Senate after she won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives this past November. Leon is the mayor of Ontario. His opponent is Norma Torres, who currently serves in the California Assembly. Leon’s campaign expenditures came under scrutiny after some within the Republican Party were hearing complaints that Leon did not have sufficient financial support. For the period of Jan. 1 thru April 27, 2013, the Paul Leon for State Senate District 32 campaign spent $347.278.60, leaving it with a balance of $5,516.46 cash on hand. The total dollar amount is a signal a well-funded campaign, especially for a special election. Analysis of how the money was spent is what is of concern to political insiders. During a four-month period, Leon’s campaign paid $36,145 to The Paideia Group, LLC. Paideia’s website states, “The Paideia Group (TPG) LLC. is a comprehensive consulting firm, specializing in governmental conflict resolution as well as executing comprehensive political, educational and issue oriented campaigns.” What the website does not state is who owns the company. by Administrator with No CommentsWe have a better informed readership than the average CRA groups or other right-wing organizations. How many of you think we will elect a Republican governor next year? What do you think the odds are?
by Administrator with No CommentsHere is a link to the Tim Donnelly information filing and police report: http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site203/2012/0224/20120224_043509_ON25_DONNELLY.pdf Taking into consideration that he did not have a CCW (Confirmed by a federal agent) AND we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that at one point he was not allowed to possess any firearm, do you feel he was charged appropriately? Is this how the average citizen would be charged? Would they be released to catch their flight and not even booked?
by Administrator with 2 CommentsWill he pardon himself? Have we ever had a governor on probation?
by Administrator with No CommentsReceived this information: The IEUA general unit employees are very close to decertifying SBPEA. It is a medium size unit for SBPEA and SBPEA would be representing NO employees at the agency if general employees decertified. The operators and lab workers decertified SBPEA several years ago. SBPEA is shrinking into irrelevance, IMO. Bob Blough must not be happy.
by Administrator with 2 CommentsI have been without a phone and could not call Mr. Johnson. So I decided to remove the one sentence that concerned me and post his comments otherwise. My first question, of course, is what happened to Raquel Garcia? Is she out of the picture? I had to deal with Ms. Garcia one day as she is/was the secretary to the Registrar of Voters. She clearly was none too happy to be dealing with me. Oh well. Maybe now she knows some of what I wrote about her boyfriend had basis.
by Administrator with No CommentsWeeks before all of the major candidates declared their intent to run for the newly created Congressional District 8 seat, rumors started to emerge that Assemblyman Tim Donnelly was undermining the campaign of his former chief of staff for that seat. Gregg Imus left Donnelly’s office months earlier and was the first to declare his candidacy for the CD8 seat. In February 2012 I received a phone call from a Phil Liberatore staffer asking for my help. Liberatore had campaigned against Rep. Gary Miller and lost in 2010. Now he had his sights set on CD8. He claimed to be an evangelical Christian and Tea Party favorite but did not want to face another Tea Party favorite and Christian on the ballot, Gregg Imus. The staffer told me that he had spoken with Donnelly. The popular assemblyman said he would not be endorsing Imus for unspecified reasons. To read the rest of the story, click here.
