iePolitics: A Class Act

It was a nice surprise to go to my mailbox tonight and find a thank you note from Mike Morrell.  It’s probably the third such note I have received from him since he started his campaign.  From the beginning I have been so impressed with Mike and the way in which he conducts his life.  I am very happy that he won the Republican primary for the 63rd Assembly District.  I know he will make a great Assemblyman. iePolitics: Anthony Riley for 59th Assembly District

www.rileyforassembly.com

A Reagan Republican Who Will Turn Our Economy Around

“Anthony Riley is a rock solid conservative that taxpayers can count on to protect them . . . and he’ll help businesses create more jobs in our state.”

- State Senator George Runner

No Tax Hikes; Stop the Spending

A fiscal conservative, Anthony Riley believes state government has a spending addiction. That’s one reason he signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge opposing all tax hikes.

Anthony Riley strongly supports the two-thirds vote requirement before the Legislature can raise taxes.  He favors a strict spending cap based on population and inflation growth that mandates a “rainy day” reserve.  Anthony Riley is the only 59th Assembly District Candidate endorsed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers  Association
Political Action Committee. Read more…

iePolitics: The Race for the 59th Assembly District (Republican)

This is the other hotly contest Assembly District race and the more controversial of the two.  Its current officeholder is Assemblyman Anthony Adams who was the target of a failed recall effort.  There are six candidates vying for our votes.

This race is also “blessed” with a well financed RINO who, unlike Don Kurth, claims to be a Christian.  And this “Christian” (or Mormon in reality) along with his campaign consultant Chris Jones (sound familiar?), has conducted the most hate-filled, ugly campaign in San Bernardino County.  That candidate is, of course, Chris Lancaster, who has stooped to sending photographers to his opponents’ homes to film their young, underaged relatives, sponsoring an incredibly hateful video, and knowingly sending out lie-filled propaganda intended to induce and inspire bigotry and hatred among voters.  Needless to say, Lancaster is undeserving of your vote.

That leaves five other candidates:  Iver Bye, Ken Hunter, Tim Donnelly, Corey Calaycay and Anthony Riley. Read more…

iePolitics: Mike Morrell for the 63rd Assembly District

www.morrellforassembly.com

As a small business owner who has lived and worked in the Inland Empire for over 30 years, I have gained the experience of successfully creating jobs – something our state badly needs in the face of double digit unemployment. I have signed the “No New Taxes Pledge,” and am endorsed by the National Tax Limitation Committee. The California Small Business Association has also endorsed me, because I am committed to spurring job growth and improving the economy by preventing new regulations and reducing the litigation and tax burdens that cripple small businesses. The government must begin living like we do – “within our means.”

I am conservative economically, politically and socially. I have been married to my wife Joanie for 32 years. We are pro-life, support the Second Amendment, and believe in traditional family values. Our daughter Kristen is a graduate of the Focus on the Family Institute, our son David recently graduated from law school, and our youngest, Matt, attends Hillsdale College.

I am concerned that our greatest enemy today is an insidious progressive agenda that weakens our nation from within: economically, politically and morally. The message we hear from progressive leaders is that “government is the solution.” History, however, proves otherwise. Big government is not the solution; rather, it is the problem. As government expands, liberty contracts and freedom is lost. Politicians believe elected office is about “they the government,” and have forgotten those three foundational words written in our Constitution, “We The People.” Read more…

iePolitics: The Race for the 63rd Assembly District

The 63rd Assembly District is one of two hotly contested Assembly seats in San Bernardino County.  There are seven Republicans vying for the Republican nomination, six of which are actively campaigning for the seat.  They are:  Mike Morrell, Paul Chabot, Acquanetta Warren, Pat Gilbreath, Henry Nickle, and Don Kurth.

This was both an easy and hard decision for me, not as to whom to vote for, as I don’t live in the district, but rather whom to support.  There are several very well qualified candidates.

There is only one candidate that I do not want to see win and that is Don Kurth.  He was a convicted drug felon in his 20s and served prison time.  Later in life he has had issues with domestic violence.  He has also had some serious financial problems.  But more important to me than any of that, Don, along with his campaign manager Jessica Austin, and campaign consultant Chris Jones, has run the single most unethical and dirty campaign in all of San Bernardino County.  None of the three of them appear to have any ethics or integrity whatsoever.  What they have done is shameful.  And it would be shameful if a RINO such as Don Kurth received the Republican Party’s nod. iePolitics: Is Assemlyman Bill Emmerson (R-Somewhere In California) Turning Against District Attorney Mike Ramos?

Is Assemblyman Bill Emmerson (R-Hemet/Upland/Redlands/Wherever) turning against one of his strongest endorsers? For years, DA Mike Ramos and Bill Emmerson have been politically close. DA Mike Ramos has endorsed Emmerson for legislative offices through the years, and Emmerson has backed Ramos for district attorney.

However, is that supposedly close political relationship about to change?

With much fanfare, it was announced in February 2010 that DA Ramos believed that Second District County Supervisor Paul Biane (who was identified only as a “John Doe”) was an unindicted co-conspirator in alleged malfeasance related to the 2006 Colonies settlement. Biane, like most of those charged by Ramos, denies all allegations, and he himself has not yet been charged. However, at a press conference that attracted statewide media attention, Ramos made clear when unveiling Biane’s possible involvement in an alleged corruption scheme that the criminal investigation remains “ongoing.” Read more…

iePolitics: You Probably Had To Be There

I wasn’t going to blog about the retirement dinner I attended last night, but several things happened which will result in a few blog entries about the event.  Sometimes, no matter how hard I try to stay out of trouble . . .

Last night I attended the retirement dinner for San Bernardino County Fire Chief Pat Dennen at Mill Creek in Mentone.  The event was sold out and the room was packed like sardines.  Despite the fact that our Board of Supervisors doesn’t think too highly of what Pat does, the loyalty from his peers was obvious. iePolitics: Ray Moors for the 61st Assembly District

I recently contacted Ray Moors the Republican Party candidate for State Assembly District 61. And he supplied me with a biography about him and his campaign and this is what he had to say.

I am a 30-year-plus “blue collar” business owner of Joey’s Bar-B-Q restaurants in the Inland Empire.  I possess an extremely well rounded knowledge of prudent, ethical business practices both as a former labor representative and as an employer.

Today California is in the greatest economic crisis I have ever witnessed.

Career politicians, government employees nor bureaucrats can solve these economic problems.  I am committed to creating new business opportunities in California while protecting those businesses and jobs that are still here.  A state without employers is a state where there are no jobs, no tax dollars generated to fund government and no solutions for society. iePolitics: An Announcement for Ken Hunter

Ken, remember this document you signed?  Kenneth Hunter Code of Fair Campaign 3-10-2010  Well Ken, I have warned you and John repeatedly.  I’m waiting to receive one more verification (I have several already) and, assuming I receive it, I will be removing all Ken Hunter information from the blog and blocking both of you from posting.  You choose to align yourself with bigoted, hateful people such as Barb Stanton, ET Snell, and Al Vogler, and that says a LOT about you and your campaign.

You criticize Anthony Adams for signing a “No New Taxes” pledge and going back on it yet you signed a “Fair Campaign” pledge and choose to participate in bigoted acts and associate yourself with bigoted people.  I don’t see the difference between you and Anthony Adams except I have more respect for Adams.

Paul Schrader: Paul Schrader candidate for Sheriff of San Bernardino County backs three pro-gun bills.

We need to see change regarding the gun laws in California.  Call your lawmakers and tell them you want the law changed.

On Tuesday, April 6, the Assembly Public Safety Committee will consider three pro-gun bills.

Assembly Bill 2053, sponsored by Assemblymember Jeff Miller (R-71), would clarify the current statutes for law enforcement to issue a concealed firearms license.  Under AB2053, the “good cause” stipulation would apply to self-defense, defending the life of another, or preventing crime in which a human life is threatened. iePolitics: Yet Another Opponent for Supervisor Paul Biane

Sacramento-based sources claim that Senator Robert Dutton (R-31) will throw his hat into the ring to unseat embattled San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Paul Biane.  Three others, Upland Mayor John “JP” Pomierski, KCAA radio host Peter “Scott” Markovich, and publisher of The Alpenphorn News, Dennis Labadie, have all expressed interest in the seat, with the latter two having already declared their candidacies.

Biane was implicated this week as John Doe 5 in a criminal complaint alleging conspiracy and bribery when San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos filed charges against former Assessor and Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Postmus and former Assistant Assessor and Third District Chief of Staff Jim Erwin. This, combined with other on-going legal issues, opens the door for a likely successful unseating of Biane. Read more…

Mike Morrell: Campaign

Dear Friends,

In California, a lot is at stake in 2010. While many in politics tax our lives to the hilt, new candidates speak of “fixing the problems” in Sacramento. But will these same men and women try to fix the problems with more government programs or more public spending?

I have raised my family and built my business on the American pillar of self-government. If elected to our State Assembly, I will keep my word to fight to end the job killing regulations, the anti-family laws, and the new taxes passed by the liberals in our State Assembly. If not, I will resign. Period. Read more…

Ken Hunter: Test For Echo

While the president of our nation tells us to stop watching political news, we the people have ignored that order. While he may prefer to rule over an uninformed electorate, he is too late. Just as Washington DC is an island surrounded by reality, so is Sacramento. The echo chambers are inside the Capitols-not outside.

Political news is on the hearts, minds and lips everywhere in town, at the post office, coffee shop; at the grocery store and at the bank…That is all you hear folks talking about.  A few years ago you would expect to hear the usual complaints about our government with few or no solutions offered. Now I hear desperate pleas to implement real solutions while our leaders would prefer for you and I to mind our own business. Now this generation has learned anew it is their government and as its rightful owners, they will be taking it back with no apologies offered. Read more…

iePolitics: Corrupt, Small-Town Politics Raises Its Ugly Head in Menifee

The Tea Party Revolution Candidate Fair 2010 was canceled, not only because of rain, but because Tom Fuhrman, the owner of Wooden Nickel Ranch was told to “Cease and Desist” this Saturday’s event by the City of Menifee.  Fuhrman, from Wooden Nickel Ranch, has been given permission from the Menifee City Council for a 5 year permit to hold events at the Ranch, but he received a letter this week stating to cease and desist this upcoming event. This is private property. He was also told the application is pending. There had been no indication of any problems recently. Why now and why so close to a pending event?

On Wednesday about 4:45 pm, one member assisting in organizing the event received a phone call from one of the candidate’s coordinators.  This person was told by the candidate’s coordinator that he received a phone call from a female at the Menifee city council warning them the event was going to be stopped by the City of Menifee on the day of the event.    He stated that they told him that the Ranch owner had a code violation on the property. Henry Nickel: To What Are We Entitled?

Henry Nickel is a Rail Analyst for Riverside County Transportation Commission and candidate for the 63rd Assembly District.  He can be reached at info@herynickel.com.  His website can be found at:  www.henrynickel.com

Nearly every generation of Americans has faced a time in which the underlying presumptions and blessings of this great state and nation are partially stripped away if for only a time.  It is during such moments when the spirit of who we are as a nation and as individual citizens shines through, teaching us once more that nothing comes without a price.  The successors to the generation of Vietnam, rock and roll and free love are fast finding that not all things come to Americans as a birth right.   We live in a time of instant gratification, anonymous interaction, perceived rights to privileges not earned and little knowledge of just where the comforts we take for granted come from and at what cost.  Not unlike prior generations, the next is on the verge of a great awakening to the fundamental truths that have made our nation a beacon of hope to all humanity for centuries.

Ken Hunter: Just Kicking The Tires Won’t Do

Today a business owner can expect to spend half his money on taxes. Rush Limbaugh says he can argue with liberals with half his brain tied behind his back. Cell phones are half the size they were five years ago and beginning as early as this July, you could soon go to jail for driving your car with tires that are half a goats’ fart shy of the recommended air pressure. Yep.

The California Air Resources Board is now bringing the war against global warming home from the battlefields of science fiction to your garage. CARB’s new rule will criminalize the operation of YOUR motor vehicle traveling in THEIR State of California with sub standard tire air pressure.  Few would argue with the logic that under inflated tires can have some impact on your gas mileage. So what if you are not as retentive guy driving in the lane next to you? Driving your car running on under inflated tires is now emitting more greenhouse gasses than that guy is, that’s what. Pat Gilbreath: Grow California: The Pat Gilbreath Agenda

Pat Gilbreath is a mother, CPA, community volunteer and candidate for the 63rd Assembly District. In 1993, she won a seat on Redlands City Council, serving as Mayor from 1999 to 2001 and once again holding the position of Mayor. An uncompromising taxpayer watchdog, she’s been an outspoken voice against government waste, and a persistent advocate for spending restraint and lower taxes.  Learn more at:
www.StandWithPat.com

As a CPA, I’ve never understood how politicians campaign on “job creation,” while supporting policies that undermine and destroy any hope of real economic growth. They should really know better. High tax rates combined with incredible levels of spending and debt have sidelined thousands of California’s job creators and entrepreneurs. Exhausted taxpayers can no longer afford the price.

The fact is that we can’t continue to grow the size of state government while creating a healthy environment for job creation and growth. It just isn’t possible. Sacramento has been recycling this strange strategy for decades, under Democrat and even Republican management. Without principled, conservative leadership in the State Assembly, California’s negative course is set, with little chance for change. Read more…

Ken Hunter: Hunter Claims Front-Runner Status

Republicans who waited until the incumbent withdrew are opportunists who did not oppose higher taxes, said John Würm, campaign manager for Ken Hunter, Republican candidate for the 59th Assembly District. Hunter has been running for the nomination since the first week of October 2009. The incumbent quit even after his recall failed because he knew that he could not beat Hunter.

Hunter said that he has steadfastly opposed not just Adams, but Adams’ high tax votes and that Californians pay more taxes overall than any other state. Hunter said that he wants to get California working again. Hunter said that it was his goal in the beginning to replace Adams and his high tax policies. He said voters are looking for leaders to reduce taxes and spending and will not vote for those seeking to just “move up the ladder.” Hunter says he will stand up against Democrats instead of surrendering as some have recently done.
