iePolitics: Ramos Under Investigation By The FPPC – Again

San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos is once again under investigation by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC)  See letter:

This is the second letter received from the FPPC on this matter. The first letter acknowledged receipt of the complaint and advised they would determine if there was enough evidence to investigate. The 460 speaks for itself so it would have been hard to say there is no evidence.

Basically, the complaint alleges that Ramos used his campaign account as a slush fund—something he is accusing everyone else of doing. And it appears that he used his campaign account so that his county credit card would not be scrutinized.

Remember all the charges regarding Suzanne Hunter in Sacramento that County Counsel legal beagle Ruth Stringer ruled were part of the “deliberative process” and therefore not subject to release to the public? Had someone taken the county to court under a California Public Record Acts (CPRA) request, the records would have been released because fornication is certainly not part of the “deliberative process.” By using his campaign account instead of his county credit card, he thought he would get around that possibility but $13000 in credit card charges raises a red flag. There would have had to have been more than 130 individual charges in a six-month period in a non-campaign year for him not to have to itemize the charges.

What we expect to happen is for Ramos’ treasurer to be contacted to provide the individual receipts amounting to the almost $13000.  It will be interesting to see what they can provide to the FPPC.  Now the next big question, will Ramos file felony charges against himself?  Nah, we have the FBI in town to take care of that.  :)

  1. Call the FPPC now. The number is 916-322-5660. How is it that Ramos gets slapped on the wrist, but he is allowed to go after others criminally for less egregious violations. Time the FPPC phone lines light up. Ask for the enforcement voicemail.
