Talk about a group of individuals that just won’t learn. You’re not going to win these cases so why keep feeding Ruth’s flame? If you dumped Ruth and Hueston, you might be able to hire a seasoned litigator who could mete sage legal advice instead of telling you what you want to hear. (more…)
Tonight I read of the second celebrity suicide in as many days. Today it was announced that Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil, committed suicide. Yesterday, it was Andrew Koenig, best known for his role on Growing Pains. From his father’s website is this quote:
If you’re one of those people who feel they can’t handle it any more, if you can learn anything from this: it’s that there are people out there who really care. You might not think so . . . but there are people who really, really care. And before you take that final decision, check it out again . . . talk to somebody. And for those families who have members who they fear are susceptible to this kind of behavior, don’t ignore it, don’t rationalize it. Extend a hand.
I’ve taken my share of criticism from those who have not been there. ASKING FOR HELP IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. One knows they need help and even wants help but asking for it is truly impossible. (more…)
San Bernardino County currently sports one of the highest, if not the highest plea bargain rates in the state.
A not so flattering statistic to say the least.
Ramos
Over the last several years county supervisors have gave additional millions in budget funding to District Attorney Mike Ramos. The result. More plea bargains with criminal defendants.
Several months ago stories ran here and on iePolitics.com exposing substantial political contributions to Ramos by two attorneys who control the San Bernardino County criminal defense conflict panel. (more…)
A major allegation contained in the recent announcement of charges in the “windshield crack-like” corruption investigation into San Bernardino County government by District Attorney Mike Ramos and Attorney General Edmund “Jerry” Brown has some interesting twists.
Ramos earlier this week announced a series of reforms necessary to put the power of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in check. (more…)
My phone should be turned back on today and I’m headed home to try to put things back together. I won’t have internet access. For the record, I gave a friend my sleeping pills and painkillers to hang on to until I’m sure I’m through this. Thank you everyone for your support.
A mother passing by her son’s bedroom was astonished to see that his bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then she saw an Envelope, propped up prominently on the pillow that was addressed to ‘Mom.’ With the worst premonition she opened the envelope with trembling hands and read the letter.
Dear Mom:
It is with great regret and sorrow that I’m writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Dad and you.
But I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercing, tattoos, tight motorcycle clothes and the fact that she is much older than I am. But it’ s not only the passion . . . Mom she’s pregnant. (more…)

Dear Friend:
The California housing market continues to struggle, with too many empty houses in neighborhoods, and too many people still at risk of losing their homes. I am pleased to let you know about a new investment for California that aims to help with this continued housing crisis.
President Barack Obama recently announced the “Help for the Hardest-Hit Housing Markets” Program that will direct funding to state housing finance agencies in California, as well as Nevada, Arizona, Michigan and Florida, to address the housing crisis at the local level.
I am pleased that President Obama recognizes that California and other states hit hard by the housing crisis will need additional resources. While there is still more to do, this investment will provide help to homeowners who are struggling during these tough economic times and are at risk of losing their homes. I will continue to work closely with the Administration and state officials to make sure these funds keep families in their homes.
REDLANDS [02.25.10] – Redlands Mayor Pat Gilbreath, Republican candidate for the 63rd Assembly District will officially open her “Grassroots Action Center,” on Monday, March 1 at 11 a.m. According to Gilbreath campaign manager Al Hernandez, the location will become the “nerve center for an aggressive, neighbor-to-neighbor outreach. Adding, “We’re running a different kind of campaign – from the people up – not Sacramento down.”
WHAT:“Stand With Pat Grassroots Action Center”
WHERE: 150 E. Vine Street, Redlands, CA
150 E. Vine Street, Redlands (traveling south on Orange Street from Interstate 10, continue onto Cajon Street. Turn left on E. Vine Street. Headquarters is located at the corner of S. 6th Street and Vine.)
Today I had my Worker’s Comp appointment. It was denied again. My attorney told me the county is doing what they are doing specifically because they don’t like the blog. Well the blog is no more.
I knew I should have stayed home. Fortunately, I had the foresight to bring my painkillers, muscle relaxers, and sleeping pills with me. I really wanted to die quietly at home but that was not meant to be. I’m not about to go there now.
Please, please someone make sure Naomi has a good home. I didn’t even get to give her a hug goodbye this morning as I was in such a hurry. Remiel can go back to his first mom Laura Burleson, who can be found on Facebook. Lucy can go back to Deanna at Animal Hospital at the Narrows. Ask Deanna if she will place the other Boxers. Animal Control will just kill them and they are wonderful, well-behaved dogs that deserve a good home.
I know some don’t understand. I have asked for help from everywhere I know to ask. My landlord is still holding many of the things I consider important hostage. My storage units will be auctioned off next week. And all of my jewelery, my mom’s jewelry and my grandma’s jewelry will be lost over the next few weeks. The county cut off all payments to me as of last Thursday. I have exactly $3 right now and my bank account is overdrawn. There is no hope of any other money for possibly months to come. I current landlord wants rent and I have nothing.
I have lost everything that is important to me. I can’t live on air. The county knows I’m suicidal and chooses to push me over the edge. Hopefully, someone will hold Mark Kirk accountable for what he has done.
I’m sorry to my friends. I know I’m hurting you. But I also know a week from now no one will remember that I even existed. That is life and I accept it. But I hope someone steps forward and helps my family sue the county and Hartford for what they have done.
Hi-Desert Republican Women, Federated welcomed San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Gary Thomas, Ed.D., as their guest speaker today at the monthly membership meeting. Of course this means that Thomas is a good Republican!
Thomas discussed both the successes and failures with the county’s sch0ol system. San Bernardino County has a lot to be proud of including an on-going commitment to public/private/community-based partnerships to enhance their ability to provide services and education to our county’s youth. (more…)
So our illustrious San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos is concerned about expenses paid by former Assessor Bill Postmus out of Postmus’ campaign war chest—not exactly new news. There is about a 95 percent chance that I will become the editor of the San Bernardino County Republican Women Federated newsletter again. I decided it was better than killing myself. It will give me something to take my mind off of my problems and somewhere to channel my energy. If this happens, I hope to get the next edition out as close to March 1 as I can.

I will be sending out personal invitations to participate to those whose email addresses I have as soon as I know for sure that I will be the editor again. I lost my entire email list several months ago, so if you have not received email from me recently, I likely do not have your email address.
I am hopeful this newsletter will be delivered to about 9,000 Republicans countywide. We are working on developing a list of solid email addresses. In exchange for the free advertising you will be receiving for your campaigns, we will ask that you forward the newsletter on to everyone in your private email lists. I hope some of the grassroots candidates comprehend the significance of this.
California Small Business Association Endorses Morrell
Upland, California – The California Small Business Association (CSBA), which represents over 203,000 California small business owners, has announced its support of Mike Morrell for the 63rd State Assembly seat currently held by Bill Emmerson.
“We believe your commitment to the future of small business is deserving of the support from our organization,” said President Betty Jo Toccoli, “and you will do a great job representing us effectively in the Legislature.”

In sports, they’re called “bandwagoners,” – you know the type of fan that supports a team only when they start winning and become popular with the public.
Such is the case these days as those claiming to be “pro-jobs” are jumping on the bandwagon during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
I have spent a career running a small business in Southern California and know first hand the responsibilities and costs of signing the front of a check as a business owner. As a result of my real-world experiences as a business owner, I brought a pro-jobs agenda with me when I came to Sacramento in 2002.
Every year since being elected I have introduced legislation to help lift the economic burdens that make California the most expensive place in the nation to do business.
Unfortunately each year nearly all of my pro–jobs measures have been killed in their first committee hearing by Democrats who control both houses of the Legislature. (more…)

Don’t make California the global warming guinea pig
This op-ed was published in the Feb. 21 edition of the Press Enterprise.
By BOB DUTTON
In his State of the State address, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared that jobs are his top priority and unveiled an initiative aimed at creating 100,000 jobs, streamlining regulations and curbing frivolous lawsuits.
The governor’s proposals are a good first step. Allow me to suggest a vital second step: Put the brakes on out-of-control, unelected bureaucrats whose regulatory actions are killing jobs and endangering our economic future.
Just look at the California Air Resources Board. Even while furloughs slow work at other state agencies, the folks at the air resources board are speeding ahead with full force to impose sweeping, untested global warming regulations. They seem intent on making California the nation’s global warming guinea pig. (more…)
Dutton Measure Seeks Safeguards to Protect Public From Mentally Disordered Offenders
SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader-elect Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) today introduced Senate Bill 1265 to protect the public by giving local authorities the ability to use common sense when mentally disordered offenders are released into neighborhoods.
The need for the bill stems from a homicide that took place in Upland last month. The murder took place in an unsupervised “group home” where seven male offenders were living. All seven men had been released from mental hospitals under the Department of Mental Health’s Forensic Conditional Release Program (ConRep). The unlicensed facility where they lived shared a fence with an elementary school. (more…)
Poll Shows George Runner is Clear Frontrunner in BOE Race
Sacramento – The results of a poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies show Senator/Taxpayer Advocate and Board of Equalization candidate George Runner as the clear frontrunner in the primary race for Board of Equalization.
The California Republican Primary Survey shows Runner was chosen by 56% of likely voters in the upcoming Republican primary, more than doubling the combined score of both of his opponents who each received 12% of the vote. (more…)

Ever since Governor Schwarzenegger signed AB 32 (The Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006) into law, climate change has been the “it” issue of the day. In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, AB 32 transfers a huge amount of power to the unelected Air Resources Board without providing any real oversight or accountability. This risky move has produced some serious consequences.
Under the AB 32 umbrella, more legislation has popped up that prioritizes “going green” over California taxpayers and businesses; all following the trend of taking control and money away from elected governing bodies, and handing it to the Air Resources Board.
For example, in 2008 the Governor signed Senate Bill 375 into law. This new law takes control away from local governments by mandating that regional transportation agencies notify the state about how they will meet specific greenhouse-gas reduction targets as set by the ARB. (more…)
Rather than making the tough decisions necessary to bring the state’s revenues in line with spending, California’s Democrat-controlled Legislature is once again settling for partial solutions to our state’s massive budget gap.
The Democrat plan approved by the Senate today ignores nearly $5 billion in cuts proposed by the Governor and specifically excludes reductions in programs that constitute over 80 percent of the state’s General Fund budget.
Less than one-third of the $5 billion in “solutions” actually approved by the majority party are actual cuts. The remaining two-thirds are realized through tax increases, gimmicks, deferrals and other cost avoidance measures. (more…)

Dear Friend:
Last week, First Lady Michelle Obama launched a new public awareness program targeted at reducing the incidence of childhood obesity. As a long-time supporter of healthy programs for children, I encourage you to check out the new government website associated with this program at letsmove.gov
As Michelle Obama pointed out when she launched this program, childhood obesity is a serious problem. Currently in the nation, a third of all children are overweight, and many suffer from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and Type 2 diabetes. And unlike so many diseases that we are struggling to find cures for, we all know how to stop childhood obesity. The new “Let’s Move” program promotes four parts, helping parents make better food choices, serving healthier food at school, making healthy food more affordable and available, and encouraging children to engage in exercise.
I hope you will check out the resources on the website letsmove.gov and encourage the parents you know to do so, as well. We can make healthier decisions for our children so that they can lead better lives.
Before my oldtimers think to themselves, “Here we go again,” I am NOT suicidal. I am extremely depressed but not suicidal.
I am not sure the blog will continue. What you see here may or may not be the end of the blog. My former landlord stole almost all of my computer equipment and the Sheriff’s Office won’t do a thing about it. I will not be able to get to a hotspot to use my laptop so I don’t expect for there to be anything new on the blog for a while after this post.
The most recent arrests of former San Bernardino County Assessor William “Bill” Postmus and former Chief of Staff to Supervisor Neil Derry, James Erwin, highlights yet again the disparity in treatment by San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos when compared with other jurisdictions. Ramos clearly is attempting to attempting to “punish” those who are political adversaries upfront as he knows the cases against them are weak and convictions are unlikely.
Take a look at the difference between the Postmus/Erwin case and the case of the four San Jacinto City Councilmen who were recently indicted in Riverside County. The disparity is glaring. (more…)
For those of you concerned with the apparent fraudulent training certificates being issued involving San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department employees, someone from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) was reading the entry yesterday. The Commission can no longer make any claims that they don’t know what is going on in this county.
It seems we have yet another double standard in this county. When law enforcement officials commit a crime, such as Mike Ramos and now members of the Sheriff’s Department, our chief law enforcement officers for the county look the other way or help in a cover up.
If you would like to contact POST and request this matter be fully investigated, you can do so at 916.227.3909 or via email at postmaster@post.ca.gov.
Republicans Introduce Private
Sector Job Creation Package Measures include 10 bills by Senator Dutton to lift
the economic burdens hindering job growth
SACRAMENTO–Senate Republican Leader–elect Bob Dutton (R–Rancho Cucamonga) has introduced 10 bills as part of a 24–bill Republican package to stimulate California’s private sector economy.
The legislation by Senator Dutton and other Republican senators was introduced as part of the emergency session declared by Governor Schwarzenegger to address California’s current fiscal crisis. This year’s budget deficit is an estimated $6 billion through June 2010 and nearly $20 billion by June 2011.
“The only way we’re going to solve California’s fiscal woes is through private sector job creation,” Senator Dutton said. “The difference between our plan and that of my Democrat colleagues is that their job creation proposals continue to increase the size of government.”
A recent editorial by the San Diego Union–Tribune titled “The Jobs Plan That Isn’t”observes that “instead of helping the state’s reeling private sector. The Democrats’ blueprint is almost entirely focused on using taxpayer funds to create government–paid positions.”
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of when the so-called “stimulus” bill was signed into law:
“One year after the Majority’s trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’, it is clear that this bloated spending package has failed to meet the needs of every day Americans,” said Bono Mack. “Fraught with wasteful spending and big government programs, the ‘stimulus’ has left nearly 10 percent of Americans, and over 14 percent in Riverside County, without jobs and facing a record-high national deficit.
One observation is becoming increasingly clear on the republican side of the California Governor’s race.
Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner needs to bow out.
There has been countless times in the past where ego has led to the needless waste of millions of campaign dollars in a futile attempt at overcoming poor odds. This is one of those times.
The battle lines have already formed between former EBay CEO Meg Whitman and Attorney General Jerry Brown, who will likely be the democratic nominee.
Whitman has been spending big money to elevate her name identification and it’s working. The runner-up republican candidate Poizner is starting to be ignored, and calls for him to drop out of the race are increasing.
Poizner spending more of his own money isn’t going to do anything.
When you call a press conference to bash your opponent, but the media thinks you’re about to announce you’re dropping out of the race, it’s a bad sign.

Dear Friend:
One of my top priorities as a United States Senator has been to ensure the health and safety of our children. That is why I recently called for quick action on the health concerns in Kettleman City, where federal, state and local officials are investigating the causes of a spate of birth defects and infant deaths.
There are reports of higher than usual birth defects and infant deaths in Kettleman City, located in Kings County. While a possible connection to a nearby hazardous waste site is being investigated, many residents have called for both further investigation of a connection and for a delay in the expansion of that site. This is a good illustration of the difference between my perspective and that of the incumbent auditor / controller. I believe that government is the problem and not the solution. Private industry is more efficient, serves the people better and in most circumstances is far superior for improving people’s lives and creating wealth. As you can see in the article (from the Daily Press) below, Larry Walker seems to indicate bigger government is the solution.
APPLE VALLEY • The man responsible for investing San Bernardino County’s revenue had some advice for people looking for a heads up on what’s driving the economy these days.
“The question is what’s the government going to do, it’s not what the market is going to do,” said Larry Walker, the county’s Auditor/Controller-Recorder. (more…)
This came from the Sheriff’s Department and we have lots of fans within that department so maybe someone can verify or clarify this story:
Here’s another one for you to look at. I do not know for a fact but I have received this information from a reliable source that the maintance supervisor at Sheriff’s headquarters made between $170.000.00 and $200,000.00 last year. He oversee’s approximately 5 employees and he was given a county vehicle as a take home car. They would place one maintance worker on call in case the heater or air conditioner would stop working or some chief’s office did not get dusted right and pay that worker on call pay. The supervisor would then be placed on a call back status in case he needed to come into the office to supervisor that employee. That means that he would receive his pay 24 hours per day 7 days a week. Someone would have to wonder what dirt this guy had on the upper brass to receive this type of treatment. Sometimes it is helpful to open those doors late at night you never know what you will find lurking behind them.

And of course, rumors have it that hiding behind the scene with Rutherford is the Lewis Group of Companies pledging their financial support. (more…)

For those who are interested, here are San Bernardino County Auditor/Controller-Treasurer/Tax Collector Larry Walker’s Form 460s showing his campaign contributors and his expenditures.
Walker Larry (Auditor Controller-Recorder 2010)-460-July312008 The most interest thing on this one is that Larry spend almost a third of his cash on hand to “reimburse for Angel’s baseball.” What the heck does that mean? They are calling it “office expenses.” I know how it looks.
Walker Larry (Auditor Controller-Recorder 2010)-460-Feb182009 Well he filed this one late and blamed it on his treasurer. We hear our favorite Yellow Singing Canary is getting a wee bit nervous. Seems he is calling his old friends to get someone, anyone, to back him on his trail of deceit. From what iePolitics hears so far, his “friends” don’t want to spend time as roomies with him and Bubba so they are politely declining. I bet in the end, Mr. Aleman is the only one of the currently accused who does jail time, “currently” being the key word.
We are hearing more charges are quite possible, just not of those District Attorney Mike Ramos is currently looking at. We will post more info as it becomes available.
I received the following email a little while ago:
Can you tell me what ever has happened to the case involving over 20 Deputies getting college credits when they did not attend the classes. It seems to just have gone away. This is serious because of the lying these people did and the amount of money they have taken from the County.
I asked our resident expert, AntiCorruptionUnit, as he is the one who broke this story, and here is his response:
Yes the case died a quiet death thanks to Sheriff Hoops. Captain Bart Gray is now retired. His wife was demoted from her position in the training division and sent back to the jail.
Just another cover up by the Sheriff’s Department. No prosecution if forthcoming in this matter.
So where is our crime-fighting District Attorney? Oh yeah, political opps with Moonbeam.
Claims by Nakanishi Campaign on Slates are FalseSacramento – Senator/Taxpayer Advocate George Runner announced today that he has secured more slate purchases than any other candidate despite false claims by the Alan Nakanishi campaign in the race for Board of Equalization.
A recent announcement from the Alan Nakanishi for Board of Equalization campaign claims he has secured, “…three times more GOP slate cards than his nearest opponent, including such popular slate cards as the California Voter Guide, California Law Enforcement Voter Guide, Republican Taxpayers Association, Continuing the Republican Revolution, and nearly a dozen others.”
The claim that Nakanishi has secured more slates than Runner is simply not true.
The slates secured by Nakanishi total about five million pieces of slate mail. The Runner campaign has secured more than five million pieces of slate mail from Citizens for Good Government, COPS Voter Guide (earned), Family Faith & Freedom Association, PORAC Official Law Enforcement Guide (earned), Save Prop 13 by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (earned), Voter Guide Slate Mail, Small Business Action Committee, California Taxpayer Protection Committee, California Economic Reform Project, and the Republican Voter Checklist among others.
If Nakanishi has three times more slates than any other opponent, then he should be able to demonstrate over 40 slates. He clearly can’t do that.
“I would ask Dr. Nakanishi to either substantiate the claim his campaign has made repeatedly regarding slates or discontinue spreading false information,” said Runner.
George Runner currently represents a large southern portion of BOE District 2 in the State Senate. He authored the successful Amber Alert system and Jessicaʼs Law in 2006. He resides in Lancaster with his wife, former Assemblywoman Sharon Runner.
In an extraordinarily surprising move, it appears that the four remaining members of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors were not affected by the emotional, pious pleadings of Josie “I wish I had a brain” Gonzales and rejected her ideas about investigating and suing themselves. They claim it is “Premature.”
Hmm . . . they didn’t think that a year ago when they sued those involved in the corruption scandal before there was one ounce of proof of wrongdoing. Here we are a year later and there is still no proof—not a single conviction. So what’s the difference? (more…)

It seems the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors needs some help doing the right thing. They need YOUR help.
The Board of Supervisors has been covering for District Attorney Mike Ramos for months because they are TERRIFIED of being charged and arrested for issues relating to the Colonies settlement, Fair Political Practices Commission violations, and other items. No matter how one feels about the Colonies settlement, it is clear that we have a District Attorney who has lied to the public and abused his office in other areas not directly related to the current corruption scandal.
The Board of Supervisors can and should waive the right to confidentiality and release all information in connection with Ramos’ misdeeds. The public has the right to know in order to make an informed decision at election time. To put this in perspective, how many of you who voted for Bill Postmus for Assessor would have done so if you had known he had been two rehab twice during his stint on the Board of Supervisors? Well, it’s no different with Ramos. Mike has an addiction too. And he has lied to the pubic as well. It’s time the board come clean on Mike Ramos.
Here is how to do it. Click on www.gmail.com. On the right-hand side, click on “Create an Account” and go through the process of setting up a new email account. It only takes a few minutes. Once it is set up, sign into it and hit the “compose” button in the top left-hand corner.
Copy and paste the following email addresses into the “To” section.
In the “Subject” line insert: “Release the Background Information on Mike Ramos”
In the body, insert: “Please release all information from closed session in regards to the Mike Ramos sexual harassment investigation. You have the right to waive confidentiality and we have the right to know.”
Note: Of course I’m recommending the use of a Gmail account because they are anonymous. I recommend remaining anonymous. However, for those with a lot of backbone, by all means use your regular email. FYI, the addresses I provided go directly to the supervisors’ Blackberrys, so be respectful.

Edmund Montgomery, a family law attorney in San Bernardino, has declared his candidacy for a seat on the Superior Court bench. I will reserve judgment as to whether I feel Mr. Montgomery or his opponent, a deputy district attorney, is better suited for the bench until I learn more about both. But having spent much of my adult life working in the criminal justice system and six years of that as a Judicial Secretary for some of this county’s most distinguished judges, I have a few observations. Chabot Endorsed by
LA County District Attorney
and Chief of Probation
Inland Empire, CA – February 16th, 2010 – 63rd assembly candidate, LT Commander (s) Paul Chabot, announces the endorsement of Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, and Los Angeles County Probation Chief, Robert Taylor.
District Attorney Cooley stated, “I would like to extend my enthusiastic endorsement of your candidacy for California’s 63rd Assembly District. This endorsement is based upon your lifelong record of public service. I’m impressed with your personal values and your life experiences, especially your Iraq military service and your fourteen years in law enforcement. Further, I appreciate your fight against the abuse of narcotics. I’m honored to endorse you for election.”
Probation Chief Taylor stated, “In government today we should be concerned about selecting the best and brightest to serve. This is precisely the reason that I am supporting Paul Chabot for the 63rd Assembly District. Today, more than ever, we need to restore the people’s confidence in government. There is no one who can do a better job of that than Paul.”
“I am honored to receive continued strong law enforcement support and I am fortunate to have worked with public safety leaders from around the district and the state in a number of law enforcement capacities fighting to protect our communities from gangs and drugs”, said Chabot.
